Welcome to a new era for Africa-a continent often stereotyped by images of poverty and wildlife but now standing on the brink of a technological revolution. In this video, I take you on a journey through Africa’s most promising smart cities, from Kenya’s Tatu City to Kigali in Rwanda, and even South Africa’s ambitious Lanseria Smart City project.
Discover how these cities are using cutting-edge technology to create sustainable, efficient, and livable urban environments that are attracting international investment and transforming the future of millions.
Having moved from Germany to Kenya at just 23, I've seen firsthand the incredible potential these developments hold, not just for Africa, but for anyone looking to invest in or relocate to this vibrant continent. Stick around to the end to uncover the opportunities these smart cities offer, and learn how you can be part of Africa’s urban transformation.

I hope smart cities in Africa will solve the issue with waste in the future. Protecting the environment should become a top priority. Can’t wait to visit Rwanda and Tatu City in Kenya 🙏🏾Thanks for educating us!

Good. That posirive attitude will take you very far. You mentiined Germany as your previous home, that is a positive in your resume. Tou have knowledge, exposure, age and love for your aboriginal homeland or ancentral home, Afika. Slow down the narrative! Africa is relaxed, a very giod number of us will listen. Venture and travel outside of Nairobi, take your time, just absorb the rest if not only Kenya, cross those artificial boarders all the way tobthe Atlantic coast, time is onbyour sidem

I appreciate your content and passion brother. I also love Kenya and more broadly Africa. I pray we don't just go blindly where the west is pointing. Only the positives are highlighted when these agendas, like smart cities, are established. We left the West having seen the realities of the end results of such things. Smart cities are amon many things, a platform for centralized surveillance and government control. It's interesting how we already see examples in smart cities, outside of Africa, of manipulation of electrically powered devices inside people homes without their knowledge or explicit permission; evidence of spying by government and companies managing infrastructure; etc. Leveraging tech is one thing. Submitting to centralized surveillance and control is something else.

Thank you for your feedback! Also true, there is always an upside and downside to things. I see it at least as a push to a better future for the continent for now. When those things will become a concern, they can be addressed and figured out.

@@nairobinyeusi5811 The statistics say otherwise
@nassergabriel4778
@nassergabriel4778 26 күн бұрын
@@tamaduni There is no data or statistics that say that. First of all, Africa is a continent, not a country, and the statistics gathered by the African Union, UN, NGOS, global academic institutions, WHO, and WEF are for countries and regions, not for the entire continent as a whole. Six out of ten of the fastest-growing economies over the past decade are in East Africa, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Kenya, Tanzania etc. There's a massive amount of socioeconomic, historical, cultural, geographical, climatic, genetic, and religious diversity there. It's one of the most diverse places on Earth, with an average age of only 20 years which represent the biggest opportunity of all. This young population is set to become the next workforce for multinational companies, not only abroad but also within Africa. Microsoft, OpenAI, Zscaler, Deel, and Google have all opened hubs in Nairobi. Swedish billionaire tech founders are building East Africa’s largest tech innovation hub, Norrsken, in Kigali, Rwanda, and this is just the beginning. Rwanda is also in talks to host a Formula 1 race soon and is building up the African NBA association. The UFC is even discussing holding mega fights on the continent. Meanwhile, Norway, where I was born and raised, arguably the richest countries in Europe and among the richest in the world in terms of GDP per capita, but it has an aging population, rapid declining population growth, a shrinking economy, and not much diversification or innovation or hunger to do anything else than sit on the couch. Norway's economy relies heavily on extracting oil from its ocean floors-a resource that will become obsolete in the next 20 years as we shift to more sustainable energy sources. Countries like Saudi Arabia and the UAE are already transforming into tax havens and tourist hotspots because they know this. Every Goldman Sachs banker, venture capital tech investor, and institutional fund manager knows Africa is the last frontier of life, youth, development, and economic growth. Over the past 30 years, Africa has made significant progress. Economic growth has been strong, with several nations experiencing average GDP growth rates of over 7% annually since the mid-1990s. Health indicators have also improved: life expectancy has risen the double in over 20 countries, and child malnutrition has decreased by 6 percentage points to 39%. In education, adult literacy rates have increased tenfold in 50 years, and there's ongoing work to close the gender gap. The percentage of people living in extreme poverty has dropped from 56% in 1990 to about 35% in 2023. Considering the global post-pandemic economy and inflation worldwide, things are definitely trending in the right direction for Africa, especially given its rapidly growing population. Mainland China had around 500 million people living in poverty in the 1940s. In less than a century, 480 million of them moved into the middle class, and similar progress is happening in Africa, some improves faster and better than others, but not a single country is going backwards, at all metrics, data and statistics countries are moving forward, Rwanda a massive success story, Somalia is finally starting to improve after 30 years of chaos. With 54 countries (55 if you include Somaliland), the potential for growth is enormous. The key will be effective leadership and how they tackle these challenges moving forward.
