Hey TDA, I am sure you know this, but you can connect the boiler and turbine (without any piping needing), same thing for the boilers, water will flow through, figured I would mention it just incase. I know space is not a problem, so not a big deal either way :)

It is mostly random, although people have been reporting more frequent landings early on now. Keep an eye on it - if you are fast enough, you can take the base out with Icarus before it becomes a problem.

RE: Setting your factory platform at an optimum height: There's actually a pretty big hint they gave us to do that: Station Victor has a mid-level plateau, with all the inputs and connection points, and much of your early building here is easy to do by extending off from that nice flat plateau. This level is ideal for building your main platform that leaves enough room for your power generation underneath, space for you to walk underneath, and will not conflict with any machines or core composers. You broke it by overthinking it.
@TheDutchActuaryКүн бұрын
Overthinking is what I do here! But yes, it turns out that the height of this particular building is a nice guideline!

I like the following when I have rich iron/clay: charcoal>trade routes>deep mines>armor though I might try the trade point for reducing imports When you have rich iron + clay, deep mines is OP. Combined with trade routes, gives you multiple tiers of multiple items to sell. Iron/clay early, iron bars/roof tiles mid, all sorts of weapons/armor/tools/roof tiles late.

It took me about an hour of digging around with 'how to leave the planet' before I finally found this video (which at 2 years old, you'd think there'd have been a more recent search result that helped me.) THIS answered the problem that I was having and that hadn't been explained anywhere else. I kept following all the instructions, but since I maintained a top-down view of Icarus, I just couldn't seem to get into cruise mode. Thanks to this video I now learned that you have to lower the camera angle as well. 😅😭

Since youtube is ignoring all of my bug reports, 360p is NOT high quality picture, it never will be. PLEASE give us back the ability to choose resolutions properly. I am so sick of opening settings to manually select a watchable resolution when I've already told you to choose the HIGHEST setting. This video is available in 1080p, it's streaming just fine in 1080p now that I've manually selected it. This is a massive annoyance, and we know that you target smaller channels with these bandwidth restrictions. Its unfair, and not the quality I expect for a paid streaming service. KZbin, get your act together! Great video Dutch, hope my complaint helps boost the algorithm. It's a shame KZbin won't give your videos a fair go! Certain popular platforms seem to always default to 1080p at minimum, and the common factor is subscriber count. It's not on if you ask me. I'm paying for access to youtube, not the top ten people youtube feels like promoting.

I have 30 hours in this game and I’m just now looking at Dyson videos because I’m starting to get stuck and you are blowing my mind. I had no idea you could put sorters directly from one building to the other. I completely forgot about stacking things. I didn’t know you could have different splitters and then put a fucking storage box on top. Omg this video is going to revolutionize my factory set up moving forward on other planets. I took the advice of another KZbinr who basically said at first embrace the spaghetti factory and then look up optimization videos once you get stuck and I honestly don’t regret it. I’ve had way more fun by myself in this game then I have had in previous resource management games. You can really get lost in the “I need the perfect factory” mindset and it takes the fun out of learning the mechanics. Great video dude

You need a blacksmith in one of your plots, along with the required materials. In order to make weapns, you'll need iron. In order to make shields, simple planks will do. Keep in mind you need a combination of shields and weapons to arm your militia (it will show what type of arms/shields depending on the type of militia). The people will fetch their weapons from storage themselves assuming they are available. (V -> recruit militia)

I have followed your guide exactly up to this point. There's only one criticism I have. The oil refineries make hydrogen and crude oil.... There's no outlet for the crude oil and I've had to have a massive number of storage tanks for my oil in order to get all the hydrogen I need for my red science. I wanted to get all the red/blue research and upgrades done but The oil refineries kept stopping as the oil was backed up. As of the end of this episode I'm not sure what I'll be using oil for but when I do I've got a TON of it stored up.
@TheDutchActuary4 күн бұрын
You'll be using that oil for yellow science soon. Things like plastic/organic crystal will allow you syphon off that oils pretty quickly. Also don't forget the oil storage stacks vertically, and each keeps 10K of it. Should take a while for that to fill up!

@@bulletpretzels1198 Bit late (sorry): Remember you can raid the raider hideouts as well - those give you a nice amount of wealth, which you can use to upgrade your retinue. You won't be able to take on the AI enemy until you have an upgraded army. Helmets and other protection goes a LONG way to making a small army do heavy lifting. Also, once you have some wealth, remember you can increase the size of your retinue AND upgrade those units in the customisation tab.

ok, so i did come in with the opinion that 100% production is better and now I see why 25% products can be better and how in all technicality that little small button actually has nothing to do with production (inputs/outputs with #'s) but is purely about 3 different play styles/ways to go about building in the late gate, NOT which produces more. This is actually very clever now that I understand it. The way he set the factories up in the video where he had every step to make that item from raw ore in 1 setup is 100% a different play style than than a forge world type play style where you make massive blueprints for just Iron ingot or copper ingot and have those feed my massive magnetic coil blueprints which feed my electrical motor blueprint and every blueprint has it's own logistics tower etc. It's seems that there are 3 ways to play: 1. New/average player - No prolif/using prolif only to compensate for an exact reason creating no waste/idle time because your just trying to beat the game by building a dyson's sphere. Long-term players: 2. The forge world people who build massive factory setups for individual Items that all have their own logistics tower(many towers per item sometimes like Iron ingots) heavily heavily rely on logistics vessels to be the glue that bonds everything together. These kinds of setups is why I thought was 100% better and IMO is when you want to always use 100% production because you made sure power is not an issue since the vessels use power, your 100% production on everything uses more power. It's kind of a quicker but lazier way to play. This setup allows for a lot of factories to have a lot of idle time until they are needed to fill the tower of the next component really fast then 50% of everything goes idle once the next tower is full. This is when you want to build the big awesome spheres but in a wild and chaotic way, some people have no chill and this play style suits those people, that's me :) 3. The methodical player which is what I would say this video shows, where you build what you need for that item all in 1 blueprint, which is interesting now that I'm writing about it. There are tiers to the items/components - tier 1 is ores - tier 2 is the ingots (refined) made from ores - tier 3 are components made from manipulation or combination of ingots smelted from raw ore. - tier 4 is finally the "actually useable" item which you can use to craft different items which could be tier 5 but they are both just items/an addition step The point is while the methodical player will also rely on vessels to transport the items, they will have way less vessels being used because no teir 1, 2 or 3 will ever be transported so less power demand. With this setup I think people should always use the 25% more products because of the tier type setups which means they take up a little less room and and use less power so this build is perfect for people who don't have massive power grids but want to expand. My guess is tier builds have a lot more math involved and this would be the more tedious play style, whereas forge world is just more vessels, more planets more power. I started this on phone and started commenting my bias opinion before watching. Comment got big and I got on PC to finish it and at that point I'm like hour and a half into writing but realized that I see zero value in 25% products and there must be some value so I watched the video and that's when I finally seen it, erased everything and then wrote this. It's hard to write when your learning new info at the same time, I'm like 3 hours into this. :)
