At least the church was pretty well cleared out, except for the altar. It amazes me that the cemeteries are so often on property right outside the churches! That is not something I'm familiar with. 🤔🙏🏻🌟

Is this in Thomaston Georgia? I’ve been trying to find places to go. I found an abandoned electronic repair shop that had vintage tvs from the 1970s, bulbs, radios and other electronics in crest Georgia but sadly someone bought the land and cleared out the building.

I KNEW I'd seen a video of this; couldn't recall whose it was! I was driving back from the college, and saw this...looked familiar, and well, I can't pass up a bando. Your PoE was freshly boarded, bui I...found my way in, did a video, and was taking pics, when I heard a car alarm...I bolt downstairs, and there's a guy in a truck (his alarm), with a small pistol in his hand. I already had my hands up...but he was friendly enough, since I wasn't doing much more than taking pics. We talked a bit, he told me he was a caretaker (or maybe owner), and that they've been having issues with thieves and vandals, and that "9 times outta 10 I'd have the cops here, but you're clearly just a photographer." Said a woman had been there about 5 months ago trying to steal a TV, and he'd had her arrested. He was rather amused that my video might be on YT, and even said he'd sub to my channel. He asked if I "got all my shots", and I'd said no, but it was up to him if he was cool with me hanging out a bit, or if I should just go. He preferred me to go on, understandably, so I left. I can confirm; they have cameras...don't know where the active ones are, but it sounded like it was more than a few. Anyway, that's my story, love this video...too bad you couldn't find Rusty the Rabbit, I didn't either, but this place is soooo photogenic! Floors upstairs are rotted pretty bad, too. Cool explore Ms. Jenn; just checked this out yesterday...though apparently I missed the gym! 😢 Had a local rool up on me, we chatted a bit, and he told me some history and said he'd been a middle school student here! Sounds like this was a college, as well as a middle and elementary school; segregated until integration started in the 60s. Then, ten minutes later, the cops showed up 🚨, but they didn't really mind me exploring; were more concerned about my safety after spotting my car. Thanks for sharing, this was a nice find! Pretty crazy, especially this far south...in Missouri (where I'm originally from) we don't put our boots on til it's at least 6", but I feel for those who aren't used to dealing with this. this was initially the high school for black students in stewart co. then it became the official high school in stewart county after integration in 1970 (though it was still majority black post integration). This building was used as the high school until 1980 when Stewart and Quitman Counties merged (the latter was initially planned to be a 3 way merger with Randolph and Clay Counties but never came through as only Randolph and Clay counties merged that same year). and a new building was build on green grove rd just west of the lumpkin city limits. this merger lasted until 2009 when Quitman Co opened its current campus in nearby Georgetown. Stewart County High School moved on the campus with the elementary school in between Lumpkin and Richland in 2018 and its now a K-12 school. the green grove rd campus is now a community center. not sure what came of this building after 1980.

Hello I'm Angilo and I've actually served time in that prison . I was there for 18 months and in fact that's the last time I was locked up ,that place was hell due to the architectural damage and lack of heating and air . I really enjoyed going back through the building as a reminder of where I could end up . Thanks ❤
