I'll definitely have to visit Bill Lomas next time I'm over that way. What a fantastic collection of bikes! The mods you've made to your bike look great, a proper old school cafe racer. The 7k rpm limiter is probably more to do with prolonging engine life rather than limiting power. This engine lives on its torque anyway, and the maximum 55nM is produced at 4k rpm, so I mainly ride that wave between 3k and 5k rpm. It would probably need some lightened internals to spin up much beyond 7k rpm, but if you could retain the torque and increase hp then you'd have the best of both worlds. I do love getting over 70mpg though. It's a massive novelty when compared to 35mpg from my zx12r.
@awesomeappleby59235 күн бұрын
Thanks, I use to have a zx-12r, and a 10r, both great bikes, That's probably why I'm searching for more power,. I was hoping BSA would bring out a larger engined bike at this year's show, but sadly not. So still tempted to get the z900rs now 🫣👍

You are right about RE , how many bikes can they churn out with the same engine?, anyway didnt stop me owning one though 😄 and at least the engine is a good engine. Hope you get to the bottom of the problem you're having with your BSA , I would love to own one myself , I wonder why Rotax dont just produce their own 650 under their own name, i think they'd sell like hot cakes. Cheers then, happy riding.👍

The reason for the cutouts ? It'll be that Devils Number in the reg plate !!!! Seriously though, the cutouts would drive me mad plus be a worrying thing too. Had a BMW cut out once on a roundabout. Was not popular with the car drivers and I didn't feel too 'fit' either !!!!
@awesomeappleby59235 күн бұрын
That's funny about the plate 🤣. I've actually done that on a roundabout, it is a little hair raising. Hopefully, if this latest map doesn't work, BSA said there is a richer map on it so that should definitely work. Apparently, it's all about the lean mapping for Euro 5 regs.
@TheKRU2515 күн бұрын
@@awesomeappleby5923 Makes sense. I bought a new RE Interceptor in November '20 to avoid the leaner set-up for 2021 yr with the new Euro 5 stuff. The later RE's could have stalling issues at traffic lights/junctions. If they did stall then the dealers installed a 'new' map, (the pre 2021 Euro 4 mapping I found out). They worked fine then apparently with no issues !

That took me 3 coffees of watching time but worth every minute! Thanks for the shout out and sorry to have to tell you only teasers were made about several new models in next few years. They won’t muck around with mapping for extra power as even harder emission controls for next year mean extra lambda sensors on bikes. Cutouts are supposed to be fixed with the latest rideability map. I recon your cut outs are fuel starvation, you do like to rev😊 and sudden throttle cutoff will (on lean burn engines) starve it of fuel. A FuelX fitted might be what you need. I think it's limited to 7000 to make it A2 legal, probably electronically. There must be a way to reprogram. Although, with a motor as under stressed but torquey as this, I think all the fun would be between 0 - 7k rpm. My guess is it'd be a bit flat further north in the rev range after the 7k mark. Coming from the period when the original Goldie was the desire of many a 'Rocker' I've never been sucked into, what l regard the false nostalgia for this Bike. Most of us remember what a 'Pain in the Butt' it could be when used on public roads....Its not so much the bike, its Mahindra/BSA company marketing it has a reborn 'Gold Star'...It isn't!...A 'Rocket Gold Star' was better, .as were many other models BSA models based on the A10 in various states of tuning. In my opinion BSA would have been better going down the same route as Royal Enfield's Intercepter which has an enviable reputation for the Classic Brit-bike look. Having said that, there seems to be a stagnation in Motorcycle sales generally, so all the adverse publicity, not to mention a war on words, this bike is receiving isn't going to help.
@awesomeappleby592320 күн бұрын
Yes, personally, I think they should have called it something like a silver star, and saved gold star name for a future one off special. A DBD 34 copy. I've had 2 interceptors and 2 modern bonnie's, and this Gold Star is far superior to the interceptor and not Farr off the bonnie's but £6000 cheaper. , so I suppose, they have achieved in our modern day to beat all similar competition and be top dog in the modern era of retro's. I would love a real DBD 34 but sadly, I don't know a thing about them to keep it looked after. I've got a 70 thunderbolt which is a DBD copy, this is shown on my other videos if interested 👍
@BrianLesliePerry20 күн бұрын
@@awesomeappleby5923 l agree with you about the naming ...it all sounds just to ambitious..calling their fist bike a Gold Star was obvious reference to a DB34 .....which it was often photographed with...! l built a Triton from parts sourced from a Classic Bike dealer in the mid nineties. l made no attempt to make a 'modern version' ie:- disc brakes, belt primary drive etc...l wanted an authentic Sixties Triton, buying only the parts that made it so ...and l succeeded. even to the extend of buying a Davida Cromwell style skid-lid type crash helmet...

Let's be honest, it is a BSA in name only, the current plethora of "motorbikes" oozing from the Indian sub-continent have no connection whatsoever to the heritage of a once great British manufacturer. In the UK these examples of cachu appear to be aimed at the old timers trying to jump on the heritage bandwagon and relive their youth oogling at bikes bike they could never afford at the time. It will all ends in tears. If a BSA badge was stuck on a donkey's backside it will still be an donkey......eeh awh!
