That looks great. BSA should offer Drop Bars and Rear-sets as a factory option! I think these look as good or possibly even better than clip-ons!

Thanks, I was thinking of putting clip ones on, but, agree with you, I like the look of these drops too much to change them . Still no rear sets available for this bike. Might try to knock something up over winter. Have you watched my latest video, where I've added ace cafe checks to the clocks and tank, I've also added 2 old style de compression/choke levers to make it look more vintage 😊👍

Great job - looks much better! I just can’t help but visualize a colour matched half-fairing and maybe (or not) some rear-sets.

I would love rear-sets, but because this bike has only been out 7 months, there's not a lot of add ons for it yet,

The ace bars look good. Very much like the Triumph Street Cup.

The bars look just right for the bike but how did you prevent the bars from touching the tank. I tried some ace bars but they would hit the tank so I put almost flat bars on which just missed the tank. Can you tell me where you got the ace bars. Many thanks,

Thanks, I got a cheap pair off eBay £35.90. , but I've tried to search the seller and think there gone. 374432577900 item number. MMCC- UK was the eBay seller name. (Handle bars, ace bars, clubman 7/8 chrome cafe Racer), was his listing title, but can't search it anymore. I got quite deep ones, I measured the whole area first to make sure. deliberately, to go around the clocks and clear tank. I pushed them quite forward, this gave me more room for tank clearance. Everything was a bit tight, but all worked out in the end. Have you watched my video of fitting the drop bars . I can give you all dimensions of my bars if that would help.👍

@@awesomeappleby5923 Thanks for the info. The measurements of yours would be very useful. Cheers

Thanks for the info. The bars do look very nice and gives it that clubman look. Could you give me some measurements of the bars - width, width across the curved section where the straight pieces join. That would be very helpful. Thanks@@awesomeappleby5923

Awesome! Your idea of adding drop bars to your Mahindra 650 is a good one. In the '60s we used ace bars rather than clipons because they were easier to fit. However, several comments: 1) your ace bar shows an incorrect and weaker weld. The stub should nor be welded onto the end of the U, but rather more inthe middle. 2) Your Mahindra weights 470 lbs. An ace bar will improve handling, but it cannot compensate for a bike that is shockingly overweight.

Thanks for your comments. I agree, I got these clip ons for an easy quick fit, no one does clip ons and headlight brackets to fit this model yet. But as soon as there out, I'll be buying clip ones👍 It does feel brilliant to ride with these drops on though 👍

Hows your body coping in that position?
@awesomeappleby5923 Жыл бұрын
Still good, I'am use to having superbikes, so similar position, Could do with rear sets, but , no one has invented them yet for this new BSA.
@johnmaltby8241 Жыл бұрын
All you need now is some rear set's. Maybe better with clip on's bar's 😂
@awesomeappleby5923 Жыл бұрын
I would love some rear sets, but no one has invented any for this new bsa yet, Been thinking about trying to fit clip ons, again, got to work out what's on the market, not too easy finding modifications for a new model 👍

As a long time BSA fan and owner since my teens (now mid 70s), I can’t really see the point in swapping out bits to make a ‘retro classic’ look more like the models of yesteryear unless, of course, the replacement parts improve safety and/or handling, such as suspension units. Of the more recent retros, I am disappointed to say I think this is the least faithful to the iconic models of the past. But each to their own, and motorcyclists are renown for customising their bikes. Enjoy while you can.

I suppose, we just want what was around when we were growing up but more reliable. And when you buy a new bike, you are purchasing someone else's idea of what retro is, and each individual has their view what retro is, so this leads to the personal changes 👍

Or you could have just bought a kawasaki W800 cafe racer which is truer to BSA than this BSA will ever be
@awesomeappleby5923 Жыл бұрын
They are nice bikes, I've been a 50 years Kawasaki fan. but its not got the same sexy styling like this new BSA, and then there's the name BSA, that name alone can't be beaten and was worth the money just to carry that badge on the tank😉👍
