Thank you. This changed my game. I had no distance. Now I'm smoking the ball.

I’m very interested in something you mentioned briefly at 1:30. Through impact (or maybe it is not until immediately after impact), the elbows and arms separate slightly from the body? Is it consistent with the famous Hogan thought of keeping the elbows connected to the body? I have wondered about this for years.

I am not sure what you are referring to. Would you mind giving me more detail.

@ thank you for responding. I frequently do not explain myself well, so I’m going to take some hard looks at some Tour players swings to see if I even have an intelligent question, and likely get back to you. I absolutely am going to try to start doing the wrist action you talked about in this video. Thanks, again.

When I do this, the key for me is patience. 1...2...snap..... 1 - Relaxed to the top of the back swing. 2 - Club dropping (a little float load feeling, also like to feel as if the my left fist has bumped into an imaginary wall where my left heel is. SNAP - release right through the ball.

3:54 I think I saw a force plate video showing the lead foot (1030 GRF vector) is approximately 2x the trail (430 Vector) - (1200 being towards the ball). Also the trail foot 430 happens first at approximately P4 and the lead foot (1030 vector a split second later at P5. Thanks for your video.

If you push your left foot forward you will initiate a hip turn to open your hips as in the backswing. If you pull you left foot backward you will turn your hips as in the down swing.

Saw a video a while back of Dean Martin playing against Sam Snead and noticed they both used only wrist movement while putting. Started trying it and it’s very easy and intuitive and honestly I hole more putts now.

Found this video after I was searching for something relating to counterbalance in the backswing. I'm having some success maintaining my posture and not dipping my head by focusing on counterbalanceing wherever the club goes. It's like I'm using my head to counterbalance the weight of the clubhead. It's dynamic and hard to explain but the club feels very light. Conversely an inside take away can result in dipping the head because it's required to counterbalance the arms and club being so far behind you. Anywhoo balance should get more attention.

Steve Pratt and Mike Austin release. I tried this a few years ago in the hopes of curing my shanks at the time. It's a tough trust because we've been told to release the club more at the bottom. I had some good strikes but didn't stay with it so can't give an honest review. Maybe I'll circle back to it. If the results are there, why not.

Please could you clarify what gives the ball more roll out on landing? What kind of spin does the golfer need to put on the ball to achieve this. Does this need more or less spin rate etc I’m assuming by hitting up on the driver you would increase your roll out distance? Myles
@JonathanTaylor6322 күн бұрын
There are two main factors, the landing angle and of course the backspin. Hitting up on the ball will reduce the backspin but increase the landing angle. Experiment using a Driver with less loft and hitting the ball after the low point in the up swing.

Literally just watched another video that showed angle data for professional players decreasing the tilt as they come to impact. The data shows them tilting back/less while maintaining spine angle somehow. Most amateurs like me don’t just tilt them forward during early extension, but the whole trail side moves inward. So this video leaves me confused especially trying to tilt more, extending the spine, while turning. My point is here showing less tilt at impact - thesandtrap.com/forums/topic/63470-handle-at-impact-shaft-angle-at-impact-vs-address-from-dtl/.

The main prob is: the golfswing is not in the human DNA (like the throw move). Ages ago we didn’t have to kill the Mammuts with a golfswing but by throwing a stone or a javelin. And thanks to some smug, degenareted, blasé Old Sports we all have to struggle with this idiocy. Lets be honest: is there more ridicoulus than the final stance after a swing? Looks like having the squits and no loo around.

Amazing...I have recently (Aug 2024) started golfing after a 25 year hiatus, this time determined to do it right. I've watched video after video on KZbin, I did Virtual Lessons through Performance Golf, I've had 5 or 6 in-person lessons, and this was the first instruction that explained EXACTLY you need to release the angles at the top BEFORE flexing the wrist!!!! Mind Blown!!!!!

I wish you, and all other reviews about putting matts that I have seen, would include green speed of the matts. In my opinion the most useful practice and training goal is developing multiple distance targets. This is especially true for all these products that one can only work on straight putts. In real life it's slope, distance and green speed, right? You can practice all winter and think you know your speed for a 10 foot straight and level putt only to find that you are way short because the matt you practiced on was 15 stint and your green is a 10. It doesn't really matter what green speed your matt is -- you just have to know. Of course the closer speed your matt is to what green speeds are where you play, the easier the math. I actually own a Prime Putt and have a USGA stintmeter, so I know my winter training is on an 11 stint matt. I don't even have the cups in yet, because I'm just learning what length backswing and tempo combination results in consistent roll distances. Oh, and another thing: this is my 2nd matt from Prime Putt. The speed on my first one was 15, and I asked Prime Putt whether they felt this was a reasonable speed. Their response was to immediately send me a replacement which actually just arrived today. They are sending me a UPS sticker to send the fast one back for them to figure out why it's out of spec. So, there's a little snippet of amazing "Customer Service"! I think they also have some sort of very long warranty. Lifetime? Not sure, and this is already too long for me to look it up plus I just heard "dinner's ready".

On the crunching of each side you want to crunch stomach muscles so your chest is still pointing to the ground not up, you want to avoid your chest pointing up to the sky ! This also has the effect of keeping your shoulder plane over and in front of your core and enabling your hip rotation to clear and maintain spin angle tilt

One tip that has helped me I do not flair my left foot out I keep it parallel with the right foot since my hips are open I still want to hit the left hip wall on rotation, a flared left foot can weaken your stability at impact strike

WOW, just hitting sponge balls indoors the resulting stable club face is a fantastic feeling. But my feeling is that if basic parameters of the swing are not observed this will be of no help. I realize I am stating the obvious, but some viewers will try your instructions and decide it won’t work for them when in fact it would if they would only follow your instructions in previous videos. Cheers

Thanks Jonathan. That’s cleared It up. i was just wondering, because I’ve been working on the pressure into lead side and the pushing back away from the target. So I was just wondering when to add in the 45 ‘ wrist release. Away from the target. So bracing your lead side first in real terms but having the feeling that wrists in cocking and away from the target at 45’ angle is more a feeling, to start the downswing after you’ve braced your lead side.
@garywheeler21282 ай бұрын
I really enjoy your videos and have watched a few. But I’m a bit confused. The videos of pressure into the lead side and pushing back videos. Do you still maintain the pushing down into the lead side first before this hand push away. At the same time or after the initial undocking of the wrists at a 45’ angle?
@JonathanTaylor632 ай бұрын
That is a very good question. Again feel and real have a major role to play here. You will probably have to feel as if you are starting your downswing with your hands and wrists, releasing the 45 deg angle and throwing the club behind you, but because your unconscious knows that this is what you are about to do, it will brace your trail side and start to load the ground before you have a chance to do anything with the club. The biggest benefit of live lessons is finding out the difference between what you think you are doing and what you are actually doing.
