At 4:09 you show impact position with your shoulders wide open, is that correct? I've watched a few videos with them saying open hips at impact but shoulders square to the target line at impact. sorry but I'm confused, can you pls clarify? Tks. By the way, I just started watching your channel and love it, you have a God given talent to teach!

Your shoulders should be slightly open at impact, the tour average is 18 degrees.

Good video but its not a new release, Jack Nickolas did the same release and said he couldn't release the club fast enough from the TOTBS. Steve Pratt has also been teaching this for over 10 years with his mentor being Mike Austin. I'm not sure but I think there's at least 2 different type of swings, The original swing all the past GOATs used and the modern thats mainly talked about today. A few of the pros that teach the OG swing talk about that move at the top that feels like a cast.

I start w my trail heel slightly off the ground and I pretend there is a wall behind my trail foot. I press from the lead into the trail then my entire goal is to plant the inside of the lead foot as fast as possible and w as long of a gap as possible. I don’t even think about the arms anymore. Flush city.

But how do I get into lead side? Do I not slide over to lead side? Like you say int be beginning of video. That’s what confuses me. I keep hitting off back foot.

Intent to keep left wrist angle(radial deviation) constant from start to finish(small amount of radial deviation at top of BS is acceptable. The death move is ulnar deviation anytime during the swing, but at no time during the takeaway or BS should left wrist ulnar deviate.

You make it look so easy and fluid. That's how I know I've got a lot of painful work ahead. Well, might as well get started. No time like the present! Thanks Jonathan. Knowing what to do is the first step.

I have watched countless intructional videos and taken lessons. THIS is the best description of the free release I have ever seen. This is exactly what my instructor was teaching me and this just goes so well into detail that I believe most can understand. Thank you. Love your channel.

It worked. Gave me more club head speed. So right about pros not knowing what they are doing. It comes natural for them. That is why teaching golf is so difficult. I have taken so many lessons, watched so many videos, this makes sense to me and I can visulize It in my head as I swing.

Are we "initiating" the release/unhinge at the top and it "happens" in the delivery zone?
@JonathanTaylor637 күн бұрын
You release the radial deviation at the top and create flexion which you release through impact

Brilliant! I'll watch this 400 times, and practice it 4,000 times! This movement being understood and being correctly carried out would seem to solve all the problems in your swing -- prevention being the best cure!

Fantastic -- this "position" and its concomitant movements immediately before and after, including that all-important "position" which one moves through just after the strike, are so essential. Not easy! We can tell it's not easy because Jonathan broke into a chuckle. That's a clue that we have much work ahead. But it is worth it. It is nice to see Jonathan showing his warmth and humor. Another fantastic video!!!

Just a beautiful, mellifluous and flowing swing, properly "central" and timely hip rotation and a full hip rotation at that, and a gorgeously soft follow-through! So, now I know what I have to work on for the next 20 years!

Game changer for the golfer who listens, and tries it, instead of all the hold the lag, retain the lag, nonsense. Monte, going back Mike Austin also big advocate of this method. And both were extremely long, luckily my old pro loved this method.

At last, a proper explanation of 1) how the club achieves an IN-OUT path, and 2) the swing-within-the-swing. Thanks, Jonathan! I believe you just spared me 10 years of agony on the golf course!

"Forged is dead", blades will be a distant memory, gone the way of persimmon woods and hickory shafts, That was the trendful thinking back in the mid to late nineties,, it was just a different time. Even steel shafts were being scrutinized with graphite shafts being all the rage...titanium shafts were already out. I think it's great just how many choices there are now in golf, it's wide open really.

Hey coach, I have read that Tour players typically have a forward tilt of the pelvis between 20-30 degrees at setup which I see with you (like water in a bucket being dumped forward). At impact, this forward tilt levels out or even tilts backwards (like water being dumped backwards). Do you have any recommendations on pelvic tilt and also on the importance of engaging the core, side obliques, etc that would help protect the back and somehow correlates to what you are are emphasizing in this video?

as a fellow GOF that discovered the rope or magic pulley! as i call it in 1st lockdown i have improved it by really activating my left glute, lower back immediately at start whilst pressing my right side into the ground to go up, with the added benefit of deactivating, almost resisting with my arms now consistently playing to 5hcp at 65yo and still deluding myself i can go lower.ive hit so many great shots in the last week! thanks for all the great videos

Understanding that feet direction is irrelevant frees up the golfer to play golf the way it's meant to be played: with the hands & arms. For example, the best way to hit a stinger draw is with the ball back in an open stance. 🤯

Some one gave me an old set of beryllium Copper Cleveland TA 1 blades 20 years ago as a joke … sold them and got a set of Calloway Cavity Back irons and i couldn’t make a good strike .. so i sold them and got a pair of 680 MB’s Titleist Blades and Then 712 Titleist MB’s. Then 716 MB’s. Then moved into a set of 718’s. Now I’m putting a set of 620 ‘MB’s together! If you work on ball striking drills and practice a lot , once you can work a Golf ball with blades you will become spoiled..that soft feeling through impact with a solid piece of forged metal is a feeling like no other in golf ….shout out to my Blade players around the world! #Butterknives
