lol, it's funny listening to this, while sitting in a tent. I'm living the whole summer in a tent, I'm working as a host at a hike in campsite. 10'x10' canvas tent with a solar power setup, I'm spending the summer riding mtb and hiking, it's a blast.

Its funny how easily so many people on the "left" so casually drop racisms. Patrick does not think that people of colour are capable of camping and him feeling free enough to put his views for everyone to see is youtube is frankly disturbing.
@TheResleevables4 күн бұрын
(Cedric) Patrick never said people of colour are incapable of camping. Quite the opposite in fact, but you're clearly incapable of simple comprehension. Also, it's clearly a joke, and we're both laughing as we're discussing it. So with that in mind, do me a favor - if you think this conversaton between two friends of 15+ years that are two different races are "dropping racisms" when they're joking about camping, stop listening to our content and grow the fuck up.

A lot of the really nice camping gear is to cajole partners less interested to going, I find. I love sleeping on the ground, but many girlfriends have not. Patrick is right its a simulator for a better life we'll never have.

There is a reason to do it, but none of what Cedric said he was doing with his friends helps ere. The point of going into nature is that it does actually have positive effects on our mental health, but the more you remind yourself of "civilization" the less it helps, so they were definitely doing it wrong.
@user-to9ge8ii9n4 күн бұрын
Idk if gatekeeping "nature" is a great look, but I also appreciate how different it is from a normal day.
@AkiVainio4 күн бұрын
@@user-to9ge8ii9n Admittedly, I'm in Finland and finding nature is very easy for me and my comment didn't necessarily take different situations into account very well. At the same time, I read on this topic quite a bit some six years ago when I was a part of a project around this. The common thread was in all of the articles I read was that the closer you could get to authentic nature the better (at least for your mental health).

when Abayence first came out it was the hottest card in MTG..originally it worked like it was a white Timewalk and the opponent could not even tap lands so it completely shut down the opponent for a turn..it was trading at like 50-100 dollars until WOTC did an errata on the card and said you can tap lands and still cast creatures then it plummeted in price over night..I’m surprised this was not discussed more..there was so much hype over this card..my friend traded 25 abeyance for an unlimited mox sapphire before it went down..this should have been more of a topic..also a little surprised Benelish Knight wasn’t mentioned as it’s the first creature you could play at instant speed..no mention of Thundermare or Goblin bomb…2 is way too low of a grade..you had to be playing at a high level at the time to really understand it’s effect on MTG..it’s more of a 5 grade

Vise and Rack are both "Continuous Artifacts," and in 1995 Icy Manipulator could turn them off. (Rule change was not until 1999.) Although there is something to be said for playing cards are they work now, both of these decks had a main deck answer to the opponent's wincon. These games should have been longer and more miserable.

I know I'm a bit late to the party here, but seeing some of these old decklists with that much LD and that few lands makes me... suspicious. As unreasonable as it may seem to suspect the *unimpeachable* integrity of the mid-late 90's Magic player, I fear you may not have played these games entirely "accurately". Much like period appropriate all-American heroes Barry Bonds and Mark McGuire, some of these numbers may make more sense with the involvement of a Balanced Breakfast. Like, you mentioned the decks being better if the SB's were just 15 basics, but maybe they were just keeping a few basics in the other *other* sideboard, you know?

I actually disagree about City of Brass in that Starter deck. I think that's the *perfect* place to put 1 copy of City of Brass. Assuming the new player plays a few games with that deck, they're gonna have the wrong basics for their spells a bunch of the time. Then they'll realize, when they have City of Brass, they *always* have the color they need, and paying 1 life each time they need it is almost always worth it.

Remember buying homelands and ice age packs for under $1.50, fallen empire packs for around $0.50. The dark and revised were still standard 2.5ish. Yeah they were underpowered but you could tell overprinted. Even mirage was overprinted and you could get at times for under $1 a pack. Star wars had similar issues with unlimited and cloud city

A lot of people saying Fallen Empires, but I’m going to disagree. As sets from that time period go, it’s probably among the more playable. Very little removal, but at least there are plenty of creatures and they’re mostly not terrible on rate. Compare that to the draftability of a set like Antiquities or The Dark; just full of stuff that doesn’t do anything.

Coldsnap, Fallen Empires (2x for card count), Saviors of Kamigawa. if we stick with sets designed to be drafted, replace the Fallen Empires packs with Rise of the Eldrazi becuase like Coldsnap it doesn't work well unless it's all 3 packs For anyone who hasn't ever tried to draft Fallen Empires: Thallids is the only viable archetype and there is zero removal
