a record can be the only source so can turn out to be the best source material. Tenor Conclave, Three Trumpets, Taylor's Wailers, James Moody Moody? not available on KZbin Music.

1989- I knew vinyl was in big trouble, because i started to see regular catalog titles go " cutout". The cutout bins were growing bigger than the new vinyl section. Also, i started seeing new vinyl being put on the floor, under the cd browser sections. 1990 was the year when it was obvious vinyl was about to be gone. Half the new releases didnt even come on vinyl, and all the discount stores like Kmart had gotten rid of vinyl completely. By late 89, some top 40 singles werent made on 45, just cassette single, CD singles were still new to USA in 89. By the way, that Madonna was sprayed with incense - see if you can still smell it. In 89, i graduated from college and bought a lot of records. I had a used record store near me, that had brand new promos for cheap. CDs were expensive, so i got a lot of 89 vinyl promos for $4. They were unsealed, but played once, if that. I got Junkyards debut, Dangerous Toys, Lethal Weapon 2 soundtrack, Simply Red a new flame, Queens The Miracle, Traveling Wilburys, Babyface debut, Starship-love among cannibals, chicago - greatest hits 82-89, rolling stones-steel wheels, Eric Clapton Journeyman, B52s Cosmic Thing, 10,000 Maniacs- Blind Mans Zoo, Big Audio Dynamite - Megatop Phoenix, Accept-eat the heat and that Duran Decade. I got the Bankstatement "throwback" 45, but never got the full album. I got a lot, but wish i had gotten more vinyl and less CDs. That same record store had a stamped promo of Appetite For Destruction with original cover and a typed 3 page letter from Geffen, explaining who Guns n Roses were, and that Appetite would be released august 87 - my most prized possession cost me $4

This fine ol NC boy done know his shit no doubt hands down yet the Slayer dude T I'd somewhat annoyingly misleading if he had a Jack Bruce or Tony Williams t shirt on it would be more moving than this silly Slayer t.

It's funny, because I too will purchases albums that are barely passable listening wise, but they make a great tent pole as far as a snapshot of time.

The reason why Cozy Powell wasn't invited to rejoin Black Sabbath after Tyr, is because of shady label deals. I.R.S was a sinking ship, they coerced Tony Iommi into an attempted reunion of the Heaven and Hell era line-up, so they could all make more money, thinking it would save the label. This is not the first time a record label has taken advantage of Tony Iommi. When Tony was finished with Sabbath in around 82/83, after Dio left, Iommi was ready to start his solo career, that first record for Tony's solo career would have been "Born Again" > hence the namesake of the album title. Iommi already had that album written, another vocalist in mind, however, due to added pressure by Warner Bros. Records, he recruited Bill Ward, Geezer Butler back in the band, alongside Ian Gillan - who was only doing this as a favor to Tony. Due to the pandemonium of "Born Again" , with Geezer, Bill at the helm, it caused hype, rumor of Ozzy rejoining Black Sabbath. After the "circus" that was "Born Again", Iommi was ready to finally start his solo project, it was going to be called; "Seventh Star". However, it turned out that Iommi had owed Warner Bros. Records one more album, so it was released under Warner Bros. Records as another Black Sabbath record. As Tony had no plans to continue on as Black Sabbath, he started once again looking for members to join his new outfit. Ray Gillen originally replaced Glen Hughes halfway through a tour, which is how he managed to appear on the demo version of "Eternal Idol", the way it was on thos demos, was how it was going to sound as a fully produced album. When Tony Martin stepped in he didn't really change anything at all. The reason why the Eternal Idol is often left out in re-releases is because it was on a different record label with Universal/Vertigo. As they released the Headless Cross, Tony Iommi saw the potential for Black Sabbath to pick up where Dio left off, however, by the time Tyr was released, I.R.S records was in financial ruins, hence you get the subsequent Dio reunion, without Cozy Powell. It was the record label's ploy to try and pull record sales, however, fans had lost interest in Black Sabbath by the time they released Dehumanizer. Dio wanted out, Tony Martin was invited back to rejoin, Cozy Powell came back in 1994-1995. He was also working with Brian May, opened for Guns N' Roses, also played with Peter Green, Yngwie Malmsteen, which was more financially lucrative for Cozy as this point, since he was working some office jobs in-between. This lead up until his passing in 1998, also having an affair with a marrieed woman, until his death in 1998.

@@analogwavelength I wish Tony Martin, the other guys around the Sabbath camp, during that time period would do more interviews. I did come across one interview from a dude in New Zealand, I think it was called "The Sick Room Radio", where he interviewed Tony Martin, and apparently Tony said that the reason why it was awkward for him to front Sabbath, was because of the age gap, it goes into real details about a lot of issues. Thanks for the video upload, supporting Tony Martin. He's so underappreciated

What's up? Another middle aged bloke showing off his big record collection? Really? Despite the mealy-mouthed 'regret' expressed, stuff like this merely exacerbates the ridiculous 'vinyl' revival'. Count me out. This is lazy reportage; get a decent book on jazz and ignore this.

Hey Sean. What an awesome, eclectic haul. You’re quite the curious collector, not afraid to take a risk on a record which seriously peaks your interest. One request, could you please post a little review of that Gas Mask album after you get a chance to listen to it? Love that Zapped comp. It’s where I first discovered what a superb guitarist Frank is on Willie the Pimp. Thanks and ☮️, David Rosner
