Thank you so much! I had such a great time watching this video. I feel like I found a new friend. BTW-I just moved to the Chicago area and would like to get a monthly PF/DC fan group together to talk, laugh and just have fun! If any of you see this, reply and live in the Chicago area hopefully we’ll start a great tradition! The Partridge Family was a big part of my youth (mostly saw it in reruns) but as I am much older now I relate to the time of Women’s Lib like Laurie, wishing I had that perfect high school boyfriend like Keith and especially the peace, love and music the show demonstrates. Life is too short to hate. Let’s get together and talk about the naïve time back in 1970 when we hoped the world would right itself. In the meantime, join me to talk about PF and DC music, won’t you?! 😊

Terrific interview Patty! I really enjoyed it. Thanks Johnny Ray, you did such a fabulous job with this book, such detailed and extensive research, and interviewing over 100 people associated with the Partridge Family, wow! I'm a 70's PF fan, going back to the very beginning of the show, I had all the albums, Tiger Beat magazines, bubblegum cards, books, etc etc. I still enjoy listening to the music, so much talent and creativity, lead by David's amazing, unique voice. Such an exciting announcement about Johnny Ray and Henry Diltz's upcoming book with photos of David, can't wait for that! (Like you said, "Pre orders"!!!!) Love your channel, looking forward to more interviews along with your videos of your PF collection items :)

I copied that album and turned it into a print on a white T-shirt. I wore it to a concert in New Jersey. David saw it and asked me to come to the stage. He turned me around and had the spotlight on me. The next night I met him backstage and we talked about it. I met him numerous times and saw like 3o concerts.

So when is the unreleased songs called "Missing Pieces" (songs that were used in the TV series but not found on any of their albums) coming out??? It seems that the late David Cassidy did NOT wanted those songs to be released.

Johnny is a friend of mine. I have told him there is not a finer book on a television show than "When We're Singing: The Partridge Family & Their Music". It's essential to any Partridge Family and David Cassidy fan. Its breadth and scope is so impressive. To say it's comprehensive is not overstating it. Johnny is committed to everything he does, as an author and beyond. All this and he still hates me. I'm still looking for a way to win him over. Any ideas?

Thanks for adding a perfect review of this amazing book. 😍 As for the other thing, I don't know Johnny well but I can't imagine him 'hating' anyone. But one thing I've learned is we can only control our own actions - we can't control others. So, I guess just continue to be true to yourself - that's all you can do. Thanks for watching and supporting this channel!! 🤗

@@MyPartridgeFamilyCollection I want to make myself clear. Johnny and I both have a similar sense of humor. We are always kidding around and making jokes at one another's expense. That is our odd way of being friends, with so much self-effacing humor. Johnny is the most unpretentious person I know. I know when he sees my comment he'll laugh. I want everyone who reads this to know there isn't a nicer person than Johnny Ray Miller. If you are his true friend you will be rewarded many times over in many ways. We understand one another. Sorry for the confusion regarding my statement. It's kind of an in thing between us. By the way I'm really enjoying your channel. I love your passion for The Partridge Family. I grew up with it and I can honestly say I never missed an episode from the first in the fall of 1970 to the last in 1974. It holds a dear memory for me. Keep up the great work!

Thanks for the nice reply Patty. Sure, of course please feel free to use that "Hello, Hello" reference 😊. I'm so pleased I found your KZbin channel, it's really great! When I was eleven-years-old my late father bought me ALL the then available PF albums for Christmas 1972. He'd had a heart attack earlier that year and he wanted to give me something very special for caring for my mom. I was one very happy little guy that Christmas morning. The following year our family was able to take a summer holiday and yep, I took all my PF LP's and a battery operated record player with me, those albums went everywhere with me. I just loved singing those songs. That was fifty-two years ago... .but, like yourself "I'm Here, You're Here" and still cherishing those happy times. My father lived till the end of the 70s but his special present that Christmas was a gift that kept giving. Fantastic! "Let The Good Times In." Mark 🎉 🎶🎵🎶❤️

David was my friend and I wrote several books about him including about his time in Saratoga where he raised and raced horses. When I saw that so-called California Hall of Fame thing, I researched them and they literally have changed hands many times and are not a credible organization. I knew it was a farce. I'm not surprised this Hall of Fame thing was not as advertised. I knew it wouldn't be good for him and I tried to warn many fans ahead of time not to go. It's disgusting that somebody so wonderful in the entertainment industry is treated so frivolously. David wanted nothing more than to entertain people and he did that to the point of being the most famous artist in the world in the early seventies. He didn't care about awards anyways. And this organization is just a joke - if it had any credibility to it it would have received widespread coverage on entertainment shows and in other media. Thankfully it did not.

The first album is good but the "up to date" is magnificent because David Cassidy sung more songs. That would be a shock if Shirley Jones left a comment here. "doesn't somebody wanted to be wanted" is my favorite song from the album eventhough David Cassidy didn't like the song at first. Wes Farrell also worked with the Cowsills, especially on "Indian Lake".

Nothing like "pop misconceptions" to carry the day. Nobody understands the important role that David played to pop music through being on THE PARTRIDGE FAMILY television show. This show appealed to "family," it may have been broken, but on they went. For his age and experience, Cassidy sang like an "adult" instead of a "kid." And, to have the production quality and the sound of what some later called "The Wrecking Crew" studio band behind his voice...amazing. He held his own.

I’m glad we could Get Happy again with your latest episode, Ms. La Bella! I’m glad you’re taking great care of your VH1 Partridge Family staff shirt! I loved activity books as a child too. The only problems with them on family road trips was the movement of the car sometimes interfered with writing and drawing. I paused your video sometimes to read the coloring book captions. I’m confused why you didn’t let viewers be able to read every caption. Yes, I paused to read Keith’s and Danny’s Henny Youngman type jokes. Susan Dey’s birthday is December 10th but I figured they were talking about the Laurie characters being March 6th birthday. Where did the show say her birthday was also Laurie’s? I also didn’t like word puzzles. I preferred crossword puzzles. David would have liked the Kirin Lemon soda I had in Japan then. Biggest favorite difference between David and I: I’ve never eaten lobster. I look forward to the viewmaster reels!

I've just discovered your channel two days ago when the David Cassidy snub appeared as a recommendation. Amazing channel you have, I wanted to watch this video first. I also have the first CD issue that was released thru Razor and Tie Records. I think in the 70s, Clive Davis aka ARISTA was buying the rights to a lot of pop acts from the 60's and 70's, so The Partridge Family was a no-brainer for him to nab and to license the rights to many minor labels, but so glad Arista did because it became easier for a 10 year old kid in 1993, to get a copy of this album on cassette, thus starting their fandom of The Partridge Family that continues till this day. I even did a video on my channel highlighting this album, as it influenced me. I've since shared your channel with a few friends of mine, so they've subscribed as well.

This major David Cassidy fan has two youtube accounts. Here is a composite of what I posted from both in objection to that sham of a "tribute." That was not the well deserved tribute to David it should have been. That was self serving exploitation and not properly about his talented music career. His financial status and personal life challenges should have had nothing to do with this. True fans do not want to dwell on that. Criticizing David with “…it was an excuse to hide…” is not tributing! No songs or albums of David’s were named. She had a snide sarcastic tone of voice all the way through. This was not heartfelt. He didn’t say his last words about time to be repeated by an exploiter. I think she does NOT love him. The fundamental question show organizers should routinely ask themselves beforehand is “What kind of tribute would the deceased artist want?” If the organizers don’t care about that, then the tribute is just a self centered virtue signaling sham. If they do care about that, well, anyone can figure out that the talented David would have preferred the tribute talk about his songs and albums than embarrassing personal life misfortunes sprinkled with accusations like “…it was his excuse…” and “…finally admitted…” This was not a true fan with enough relevant facts in her head to make a speech without doink doink doinking on her cellphone the whole time. Look at this comments section; everyone is disgusted! With good reasons! Is this presenter going to be asked to reply to questions asked of her and is she going to make a public apology and explanation speech?
@MyPartridgeFamilyCollection
@MyPartridgeFamilyCollection Ай бұрын
The whole time I'm reading your comment - I'm nodding my head! You said it all PERFECTLY! And I do agree with you that "Self-Serving" was the reason for this so-called tribute. I'm sure they made more money on ticket sales than they ever did before. (I paid $75 for mine and that was not the highest priced). So once again, horrible people making money off the back of such a talented and wonderful person. We all know he wasn't perfect (no one is) - but his music and talent is pretty close to perfection and that's why we gathered for the tribute. When I think I'm over it, I get all worked up again. Anyway, keep the faith - I'm hoping some good comes out of this. 🤗

@@MyPartridgeFamilyCollection Hi, Thanks so much for your positive feedback! I’m so sorry so many fans lost so much to get into the show and on travel expenses, expecting something much better than that Hecka (sic) Flunk presenter. At least they could vent their complaints at the afterparty to other fans. Today I listened to David’s ‘”Dreams Are Nothin’ More Than Wishes” and “The Higher They Climb The Harder They Fall” albums. That non-tributer gave me the idea to change the last title to “The Lower They Stoop…” and I’m afraid to type the rest of it, but I bet you can guess close to it. We know we have kindness in our hearts and facts in our heads about David, so let’s think positively that things will be made right…or close to it at least.
