I'm most unfamiliar with under gravel filters. How does it work? Does it pull all the fish waste into the gravel? So then it will still need to be vacuumed out?
@mexicalifishkeeper2 күн бұрын
@wrmaldonado it pulls everything to the bottom of the aquarium. As far as vacuum clean, I never do for two reasons. The first is because the waste becomes food for my plants. The second is that eventually, the waste will become inert and become more dirt in the aquarium. The mulm helps provide a food source for not only fry but also other microorganisms living in the aquarium .

Ah cool! Thanks for the explanation. Basically plant fertilizer and bottom feeder food. It's just that everyone is so preachy about vacuuming the substrate, it seemed like a bad thing to pull all the detritus into the gravel.

@wrmaldonado yes, but because they usually run aquariums without plants

Pretty cool cant wait to see your update after long term use. we ALL struggle with noisy air pumps I have 2 Pawfly pumps that are pretty quite. So if these are even quieter i would love to try one out.

I paid $20 at LFS for a one line AquaTop that is terribly loud. It is the usual shape. I took the casing apart and stuffed it with filter floss which helped a little. I then got a 2 line $10 AQQA from Amazon. It has a flat shape and is quiet. I was so impressed that i bought another 2 line that is rechargeable for power outages for my next build. I am hoping that it is equally good. Great vid. I subscribed.

So whip must live in Rockford? I lived there for 7 years when I moved out of my parents house.

You have an affiliate link or no Jorge? I’m gonna be grabbing a couple.

@brantonlightcap no affiliated link, I am still curious to see how long it will hold up

@ gotcha. I’m gonna give it a go. Are you just running the 4 way gang valve? I’m gonna see if I can split it more than just 4

@brantonlightcap I'm running ten air driven filters on a custom wall pvc gang valve set up

I'm actually curious to see what would be the absolute amount that little pump can run. I try to see if I can max it out today after I get off work.

I love a nice tank of angel fish. It's simple, but has a lot of impact. When the plants grow out, it will be stellar.

It's funny you shared this.. I started off with those exact same air pumps, and man, are they noisy! I'm glad I switched to a whole different one myself.

Thanks for the info. We had a pump that made a ton of noise too. Unbearable. So I took it apart and noticed one of the arms that ran a diaphragm had a loose screw which caused it to move too close to another part. So I adjusted it straight and tightened the screw with loctite. It’s been quiet ever since.
