Hi Sir Anmol Birring. I have learned so much from you, since 2018 when I was still clueless about UT. I gained more knowledge from you than the classroom. Everyday after classes, I will go through all your teaching about UT and practices from it. 6 years later, here I am learning PAUT from you, once again. You have been a great teacher. How I wish I could see you in real life to express how gratitude I am to you, Teacher. I wish you good health and prosper life for everything you have done for the NDT communities 😊

Why the waves will diffraction occur only from tips of flaw not , why it will not diffract from body of flaw
@crentdaniel3456Ай бұрын
Because of the pitch catch, I would assume that since the sound wave only gets diffracted at the edges/tips of the weld, this is where there is a sudden change in in the material property which would be picked up by the receiving transducer, The body of the flaw is more uniform than that of the tips and/or the sound does not make it to the receiving Transducer so there is nothing to detect from the body... hope that helps

An echo that rises ℅20 (-14dB) above the reference curve is evaluated. It is not accepted, but its length and characterization are examined. Crack, LOP and LOF are rejected.

DAC doesn't compensate for the attenuation of sound as it goes further into the thickness .. realistically ?
@anmolbirring63418 ай бұрын
Primarily it is loss from beam spread. Carbon steel has very low attenuation
