How would you spend 1700-2000€ if you wanted a camera for starting to get serious about both photos and videos (including 1 or 2 basic lenses)? Currently I'm not sure between the Sony a7 iii (body 1000-1200€ used) and the Sony a6700 (body 1350 - 1400€ used). The a6700 is tempting despite being an aps-c, because of 4k 120 and all the newest AI-AF features; on the other end, the a7 iii is one of the few full-frames I can afford, considering the price of full-frame lenses. Do you think that beginning with a full-frame is more important than beginning with an high-end aps-c? Like if you want to do some photos and videos in your trips or in events? Thank you if you read this.
@RaySawyerPhoto24 күн бұрын
It’s always your decision. You will know in your gut what you want to go with. Full frame is great but not big deal starting on aps-c cameras. Just have to look at Fuji shooters. Lovely photos and video out of them. John branch for example shoots Fuji and they are all crop sensor. Do what’s best for your budget. Once you’re good at the craft. The gear matters less and less.

I just bought an a9 with a mere 28k on the actual shutter and paired it with the 70-200mm II lens. Holy cow was that a killer investment. I have an a7r II that's been my main since going to it from the a6300, but I needed some speed for shooting my grandson's sporting events and other hobbies. I'm blown away by how capable that beast is, and the focus system over the r2 is night and day. Now I've got to jump to an r4 I think and I'll have an amazing setup. The A9 is absolutely fantastic today for people shooting actual pix and not needing hybrid.

Know you watched Pye and done his course etc. You done loads with flash, gels etc. Honestly i thought you were on the right track with those videos, then you disappeared for a long time. I was gutted to be honest that you disappeared. It's a lot of time and effort, totally understand, maybe if you brought that series back i'd totally be on board. Ps how's the weight going ? i dropped almost 2st as i had to have hernia op, probably put back on half a stone, so know it's damn hard , but starting again. Off now after hernia op for another 3 weeks, but walking 10miles a day on running machine. Ps you were awesome in that training video of martial arts. Regards Jonny

Hey Ray! Sorry to hear about the recording. I imagine that’s super frustrating especially given the recent challenges with views. While I’m no expert on youtube content i do consider myself a huge content consumer and wanted to provide some thoughts. I’m a huge fan of your work and overall vibe. I particularly enjoy the content where you speak about certain topics in the wedding photography space (if whether to include an engagement session in packages or not, how you got featured on publications, etc.) and sharing general tips on being a better photographer/ small business owner. I enjoy your take on things and find your insight helpful. I haven’t been watching the recent editing content because i spend a lot less time in Lightroom these days because of Imagen AI doing the heavy lifting. I was actually looking forward to this video because i enjoy content about using specific software and general tech to improve photography workflow. Your recent video on the latest lightroom AI update was also really good imo. i appreciated you taking a “learn with me” approach. It helped me learn about the topic way faster and the length of the video was perfect in my opinion. Anyways, i say all this because i’d love to keep watching your content though i haven’t found the recent videos all that enticing. I’m just one person sharing my perspective, but maybe others can agree as i’m sure many may disagree. Again, big fan of your work and your content has proven to be very helpful. I hope this helps or at least minimizes some frustration. Sent with love from USA <3

So... This guy is on the trial for murder, but he's cool, he's got a photo proof he was in Guadalajara at the time so he couldn't have done it, only "oops! Sorry, sir but you aren't in the photo..." Or this politician running for an office, he's got a photo of his proudest moment as a part of the campaign, only he hasn't.... RAWs should be legally forbidden to stay RAWs after any manipulation.

@@artursandwich1974 it is raw in essence. When you had to take it to photoshop it saved back to Lightroom as a TIFF (flat). Or an a7iii with remaining warranty 500 shutter count and a 28-70mm kit lens for 1380€. My budget at the moment is 1600€ would next invest in a used Tamron 28-75mm 2.8 i can get in my area for about 440€. My main focus is street and portrait photography.

You are looking at it from the POV of experienced skilled pro. A skilled pro can get great shots with a full manual camera, digital or film. Skill actually makes up for lesser gear. The other is true too, many times a feature is good enough to lean on as a novice. It doesn't mean ignore skill, it doesn't have to be one or the other. I don't think skill or gear should be ignored, they both work to the same goal; they allow us to take photos we wouldn't otherwise have gotten.
