The children that survived were all girls at least I counted from the passenger lists. 1. Josephine Helen O'Hara, age 10, of 1st class was pulled into a lifeboat after being in the water and was reunited with her mother, May O'Hara. But her father, Henry O'Hara, was lost in the sinking. She sadly died at the age of 16 in April of 1920. 2. Florence Lorraine "Jessie" Barbour, age 8, of 2nd class was orphaned having managed to be saved by holding on to the neck of Robert Crellin, her godfather. But lost her mother, Sabena Barbour, and 3-year-old sister Evelyn Beatrice. She recently lost her father Thomas Barbour in a mining accident in May of 1913. She died at the age of 73 in 1978 as Mrs. Harker. 3. Edith Grace "Gracie" Hanagan, age 7, of 2nd class was also orphaned after losing both her parents, Edward and Edith Hanagan, in the water and managed to hold onto a piece of wreckage until a lifeboat pulled her in. She was the last survivors to die on May 15th, 1995 as Mrs. Grace Martyn. Just 1 day before turning 88 and 2 weeks before the Anniversary of the sinking.

Michael - I'm the guy who uses your song in my Vimy Ridge talk - both grandfathers fought at Vimy. And here is one to bring a smile to your face. My brother, the family historian, is in Europe now. His goal in life is to walk the Grange Tunnel, where one of our grandfathers accessed the battle. Only problem is - he is 6'5", he has a bad back, AND, he is claustrophobic!!!. I wish him well. And, lastly, thankyou for this super song.

The Dutch have a program called Faces to Graves. They are trying to collect stories for all those Canadians buried in Dutch graves. My uncle is buried at Groesbeek, and we've provided a story. You can go online to www.facestograves.nl, scroll down to names that have stories and read. For those with family buried at Holten, you can send info to [email protected] and they will assist you. Great program. And thanks, Mike, for this great song and video.

A very important part of our military heritage from the Great War. A fitting tribute to those men who formed up under Hill 145 on Easter Monday, 1917. Masterfully done, a virtuoso Michael! I've always studied the Great War from two perspectives, one as a Newfoundlander, and two as a Canadian. In 1949 that really merged into one. But before this, during the Great War when so many young men from NFLD served King and country in the Newfoundland Regiment and the Royal Navy, many, like my Grandfather,..served in the CEF. Working in Detroit Mich., crossing to Windsor, Ont and joining the CEF. So many epic battles throughout the Great War and WW2,..I could only wish you will write more along these themes, entwined with original footage never hurts to bring home the message. RTS

So moving and a real description of what happened on that dreadful morning. I have connections with Canada and have visited the Canadian War Cemetery outside Dieppe. Thank you for putting this video together, I will be sharing it on my FB page on 19th August.

Last night we heard Oliver Pigott and Christopher MacFarlane do an spectacular rendition of Michael J Moore's "Vimy Ridge". Mr. Pigott's singing was spot-on, with a decent amount of gravel thrown into the voice. One can easily imagine one of the NCOs calling out to the boys. It is utterly believable. Just beautiful guys. Thanks

Hello Baxter Rice. That really was an amazing performance, eh? I was moved to tears as I listened to it. I couldn't help but imagine the horror those boys experienced. Exactly five years ago, my wife and I were at the Canadian National Vimy Monument for the 95th anniversary memorial service. Governor General David Johnston, dozens of Canadian service men and women, and 5,000 Canadian high school students were there on that day. We stood under a cold, rainy, windy sky as Lizzy Hoyt played her spell-binding composition, Vimy Ridge. I wish all Canadians could find a way to make that pilgrimage. Tonight we heard Oliver Pigott and Christopher MacFarlane do an spectacular rendition of this amazing song. I think Michael J. Moore penned a thoughtful and heartfelt song. It will certainly be one of the songs I will revisit about this time, every year from now on. Thanks for that beautiful gift, Mr. Moore.

I'm not sure if your reply was meant for me. If so, no that wasn't me at the hotel. And I'd like to add something to what I said above. I must correct my error. Firstly, we were at the Canadian National Vimy Memorial, not Monument. Also, it won't only be the Battle of Vimy Ridge anniversary reminding to seek amazing songs like this. Remembrance Day, as well as other noteworthy anniversaries will give my grey matter a kick. Given any relevant excuse, it is truly my pleasure to let this incredible song to remind me of our dear lads. Thanks again. Damn, we've got great songwriters in Canuckistan!
