The spin is gorgeous. Did you spin each colour batt separately and then ply together or did you blend the two while spinning?

You two are so cute. How fun to see your love, understanding and support of each other. And to know that all that has created a yarnie community and helped it to thrive is even more heartwarming. Keep up the good work you two, and Carl, enjoy your new sweater!

Interesting. Have spent some time with knitters who knit a lot and are quite accomplished, but I always wonder why they almost never wear their own knitted stuff!

Great episode, thank you. Your support of local yarn/dyers is appreciated, and your popularity at the various yarn festivals you attend, with or without your stall, always surrounded by big groups of people, is another sign of the success of your business approach I think.

Love your videos, Alana. I missed soctober because I did Stephen's MKAL which is finished, so now I will be doing socks (thank you for the stunning range of suitable yarns!). I often get confused with matching local terminology re yarns too, one day I will see all my swatches together! Best wishes!

Hi Mark, I am so glad to have found your channel. I am a crocheter from Australia and I love your honesty. I found it hard to chose a favourite but I loved when you and Ned were on the Shetland Islands and you interviewed the lady that made the beats, and your tour of the yarn mill. They were both fascinating. Keep up the great content.

A really interesting episode. Love seeing you both talk respectfully and encouraging about each other. KZbin is a good accessory outlet for a YARN SHOP as we get to see how yarnies live in other parts of the world. You shop is beautiful..just like you. A 'home' shop is a reflection of its occupants.

I so enjoyed this podcast, so lovely to meet your husband and hear about how he has influenced and supported you to get where you are today with your business. Thank you for sticking it out when times were tough and realising that having a place like you have provided is so important to many people. I can't wait to visit your beautiful shop one day and getting to squish all that yarn and most importantly meeting you in person. I look forward to knitting more of your beautiful patterns and buying more yarn. Thank you

I love this! Reminiscent of the early days of growing my business. I was audibly saying, "yep" and "amen" the whole time. Observation-take it for what it's worth: the branding on your podcast is very confusing. There's is the name of the YT channel, and the name of your shop, and the name of the podcast. If it were me, I would decide what I'm trying to brand and let go of the other two names to strengthen the brand and brand awareness. Also, from my experience, strengthen your YT thumbnail for a greater reach. Currently, there's seems to be so much for the eye to decipher that it can be easily overlooked by us, your subscribers, and YT won't widely distribute it. The stronger the thumbnail, title and hashtags the greater YT will distribute it. Regardless, I'm a fan and I'm rootin' for your super success! Thanks your channel!

Thanks for sharing your interesting story. I have a mini yarn shop in Tasmania. I hand dye a lot of the yarn myself. Sadly, I don't have great business and marketing skills to grow the business.

Wow, amazing! Thank you for sharing a glimpse to your business and how you started, what it means to be an owner. I appreciate your work even more! And learned to respect of what you do even more. So much sacrifice and also love for the community. Many many many more years in the business. See you soon in the shop :)

Wow! Alanna and Carl! Just Wow! You two are such a great couple and team and this magical quality spilled over during this episode so much so that we all get to feel a part of the magic and warmth you two emanate together. Thank you. This episode made me think your podcast could go in two directions. The yarn story makes sense and aligns with your business but holy heck your business story is incredible and is well told here and is so compelling. This story is worth sharing in so many ways. And then there is the wisdom you two share and have shared with us. Your philosophical approach to life and your values are wonderful to learn more about through your story telling. And you are such a complementary pair to own a business together. I have been a customer and attendee of Knit Night since the start and I thank you for the opportunity to be a part of the community so strongly connected with Loopine. My knitting skills and products have grown exponentially and the community has been a welcoming place to be and enjoy the diverse company who always populate Friday nights at Loopine. Thank you for all of that. You have blessed my life and the lives of so many others. As a business owner myself I tip my hat to you both. Your open sharing of your journey including your differences was a joy to watch and learn from. I look forward to seeing you soon to share my feedback in person. Plus I’d love to interview you two one day.

So happy that you started Loopine, your store is so beautiful to visit, as is the space you create at Woolfest Auckland every year. It was lovely to hear the story of Loopine from the beginning and that you managed to weather the difficult years of lockdowns on top of being a new business. We are so lucky to have you as part of our yarny community here in New Zealand.

Thanks so much for sharing your journey, what a team you 2 make, with the creativity, love of yarn, designing and knitting and to have a partner who has the other side of business and the belief in what they know you can do. The I already have a sweater resonates so much with me. When asking my hubby, what sweater would you like? Oh I've got one. Well he has 5 now whether he needs them or not (or course he does). I think a lot of us shy people feel that in the world out there everyone else has it all together, know what they are doing, are better at stuff, but the older I get the more I realise it's not the case. Thank you for what you bring to the world of fibre and for the honest and loyal approach that you show in your personal and business lives.

Great to hear your back story. I’ve always thought my reason for starting a yarn shop would be access to yarn at wholesale prices. 😬😜 As a beginner knitter I fawn over lots of beautiful yarns but the prices make it a bit of a barrier, want vs needs. I can only imagine how hard it was to stay above the burning coals that Covid brought small businesses the world over. Well done! I love Loopine, hope to make it in person one day. 💖
