i think that explanation comes from Sanitary Firing Tunnel Kiln so it undergoes in Oxidation Fired but porcelain more differs from Sanitary Kiln

Thank you for your video... I am not sure about preparing the sample. During crushing how you know it is real size if grains?? I think the crushing step is so important in this test? especially if we use hand jar

POC are exhausted through the POC exhaust fan, rapid cool & cooling air are exhausted through the waste heat fan. When kiln is tuned/balanced properly you will have a zero balance area between end of fire zone and rapid cool. I've Been tuning balancing kilns for 25+years & this is the most accurate way of balancing kilns. Also use high velocity burners to achieve uniformity with staggered burners.

Paul Dorow - What you describe applies for kilns without exit door and which rely on kiln exhaust and waste heat recovery fans to supply air inside the tunnel, it does not apply to kilns with an exit door and forced air with exit end fan. I am sorry, but I explain practice that I applied in my professional life to modern firing kilns for the last 40 years with success. And what you call zero balance area, do you mean a zero flow area or a zero static pressure? Those are two different things.

Sir Today I saw your video regarding TunnelKiln. I am a lay man. I want to put up gas fired tunnel kiln in India. I want to fire solid brick of size 254mm ×127mm x76.2mm. This fired size. The TunnelKiln will firing 120 tonnes of material per day. Can you please suggest me following details. The length of tunnel kiln. The length of preheating zone firing zone cooling zone. Quantity of air reguried at every point. Previously I was working with air of 1kg per kg of of fired material. Now please help to decide this quantity. I will be using drives at each fan to control it's speed. Can you please help to know where should I have zero pressure zone. Please also guide from where to give/put air or take waste heat recovery air for dryer. To put cooling air in cooling zone. From where to take exhaust gasses. Make a kiln 3m wide and at least 120m long to reach desired results. Its all a matter of design according to product. Engage a qualified designer or supplier who has rich experience in this field.

I think the depth is not included in actual formula of ASTM C-67 , X=30*W/(L*B)
