@@laguindamhh hi, it depends on what job you're applying for as some may have higher requirements than others. Mental health assistant jobs can be easy to acquire, as opposed to assistant psychologist jobs. This video might be helpful kzbin.info/www/bejne/sGKoeISYiN95fJIsi=I2axs4tcgt8ifNWP

@ceethecounsellor Thank you! I've watched the video. I can see that you had experience prior to doing your masters course. I am planning to do a second degree in Bsc Mental Health Nursing because it gives us the opportunity to work in a mental hospital without experience. After I have the experience, I can apply for a High Intensity CBT course to become a CBT Therapist. I'm just not sure if this is the best route?

Do you think the longevity and dedication it takes is worth the salary/pay therapists receive?
@ceethecounsellor
@ceethecounsellor Ай бұрын
I think it partly depends on where you live and some places are quite isolated but if you live in a busier city, it can be easy to get a job and lots of private clients but the higher pay can take years to get to so it might be worth it depending on what your standard of living is
@omgitsnishaaa

@ do you find yourself listening more, rather than giving your opinion or offering solutions?
@ceethecounsellor
@ceethecounsellor Ай бұрын
Sometimes I listen more because some clients have a lot to get off their chest and some are quite chatty. Some are not sure they have much to say so I have to prompt a lot of the conversations by asking questions that will get them to speak and share more. It all depends on the client, some clients just need to be heard more than talked at and vice versa

What I find is that a lot of Counsellors do not retire, unlike i.e. nursing when so many are joining yearly, but so many are also leaving/retiring, so there's always a need. I recently did a search on the BACP site for a CBT Counsellor within 5 miles radius of my address and there's about 40!!
@ceethecounsellor
@ceethecounsellor Ай бұрын
Yeah I agree, there’s rarely a need to retire as as a counsellor as you get older if you’re in good health. 40 isn’t a lot, maybe you can add to that number?

Thank you so much! I really liked how you explained this. I really felt harshly judged with my recent counsellor and it seemed that she was constantly criticizing my actions, even though I felt that I was taking good steps to move towards my goals. It felt like she was projecting herself, her desires, and her goals onto me, rather than really see who I was and what I needed. Things seemed to be going really well, until it all came crashing down and I'm still recovering from the impact. Anyway, I've been looking at other approaches and the person-centered approach seems to be a better fit for me. I appreciate your taking the time and care to create this. Blessings! - Claire

Hi, you’re welcome, glad the videos have been helpful for you. Where and how do you your placement will depend on your course provider and their rules. If you know where you want to study or you’re already studying somewhere, ask them if you can do online, in person etc. so you can plan ahead Good luck with everything!

I absolutely love your take on things. "Expect the unexpected" yep! I myself said to my counsellor who I adored that I'd love to get her a gift and I asked if it was okay with her and she said that was fine. From my perspective (a client) I was grieving from having lost one of the people in my lives that listened to me without judgement. This ending came as a shock with me and I was very depressed. I intend to send the gifts to her workplace, I did mention I may send it later and she said that was fine. As a counsellor I assume you are trained to deal with all sorts of different endings. Thank you for making this video, I really needed to hear endings from a counsellors perspective.
