The blue RS2000 was road tested by CAR magazine in 1974 against the Audi 80GT and Alfasud Ti. It may have been a Ford press car.

Golden sand. Sable is more brown.

@@stringer-ik1pc you’ve got me doubting myself now, I used to work in a paint shop in the 70’s and knew a lot of the colours, my neighbour had an XJ6 at the time that was two tone, brown over a light greyish- beige, same colour as this E-type, I’ve always thought Sable was the lighter colour, hmm. Need the paint code from the E-type.👍

Reminds of a friend of mine. We met at work when I was 17 and he was 16. He spoke like he was 45 plus with a wealth of experience in everything. My Mum would say, not sure about something, can you ring Neil and ask him for the answer lol

Well, you lost a subscription. Why do you think it is a good idea to have shorts as possible revenue stream? You probably don't care, the once mighty pound, needs to roll. For me, shorts might be nice on a phone, not on a monitor. Good bye now, won't be seeing you again, plenty of auction sites out there.

About 26 years ago a really good friend of mine was given this car by a retiring vicar. My friend offered it to me, for free, as long as I shared any profit I might make on it. I took out the glass and blasted much of the body back to metal. There were some, not loads, of rot patches I cut out and but-welded with new metal, mostly the lower A pillars and scuttle. I rebuilt the original webber 40s and overhauled the engine. The engine bay didn't need much work. I took the rusty steel rims to work and had them shot blasted and painted. The ignition switch was faulty and I couldn't get a replacement, so I took out the cigarette lighter and placed a Liebherr ship crane starter button there, the lock remained for mechanical security. On the day of it's MOT I had it running with the rear screen heater on. The screen exploded! I bought used one from a guy at Donnington alfa day, but I had to follow him 100 miles further south to pick it up (in my 147). At home Autoglass got the job of fitting the screen. The fitter had an unlabelled squirt bottle which he thought was rubber lube, but it turned out to be paint thinners and ruined the paint. I did a deal with him that let him keep face and no-one ever mentioned it.... until now! After it passed it's MOT it went back in my garage with the intention of keeping it. Not long after I met an American woman and we needed an expensive visa, so I sold A772HLR to a local Newcastle man at great loss. I only ever used this car for one day but spent a year of my life working on it.

Annoying how the video is presented in a jerky fashion, instead of offering a smooth close up of areas of known trouble spots. Most people interested in purchasing such a vehicle know what they are looking at from afar. So why not give slow close ups of trouble ahead?
