The ingredients quantities are completely wrong and you end up throwing out a huge amount. For example 200g of chocolate are recommended when most other recipes suggest 100g. The others are right!
@KatBakingExplorer2 күн бұрын
The quantities are definitely correct, I make this yule log every year, sometimes two of them, and have done for many years now. If you prefer another recipe that's ok, but it doesn't mean mine is wrong.

Those look delicious! If you could tell me, would it be possible to make a scone round like a ball? I want to do it for a party, and was thinking about putting them in some sort of mould, but didn't know if they would rise and fill in the top/bottom of the mould. Thoughts?
@KatBakingExplorer8 күн бұрын
They would rise, but not as much and it would be quite uneven

Hi i baked this cake last week it tastes delicious & yummy but i was I was unable to slice it properly because it was breaking up maybe my measurements were wrong. I was measuring in cups your measurements were in grams so maybe that's why. But it's a very yummy cake ❤ thankyou.
@KatBakingExplorer11 күн бұрын
Hi, I do provide cup measurements because people ask for them, but I always encourage measuring in grams using digital scales as it is the most accurate way of baking and getting good results. I'm glad you enjoyed the flavour of the cake!

Hi Kat! I don’t have self raising flour, could you please suggest an alternative for it? Would 6.5 tsp baking powder be sufficient for 500g all purpose flour? Also how do I alter the recipe for 3 - 6 inch pans? Thank you❤️

How much would this cake weigh
@KatBakingExplorer19 күн бұрын
I don't know sorry I've never weighed it
@ParkerFaith20 күн бұрын
Not sure if anyone has tried this, I have not yet; although supposedly if you wrap foil folded in half, around the metal pan or baking dish, the loaf is even around when fully baked......
@KatBakingExplorer19 күн бұрын
It's totally normal for loaf cakes to rise and have cracks on the top, you can encourage a neater crack by putting a line of melted butter along the top of the batter before baking it.

I can’t wait to bake this cake for Christmas dinner! If you don’t mind me asking, do I need to adjust any time or temperature to use bundt cake pans? Thanks for such a nice recipe
@KatBakingExplorer26 күн бұрын
Sorry I've not tried to make it in a bundt pan so I can't say for sure. I imagine the bake time would be slightly less, I'd recommend keeping an eye on it and checking with a thin skewer or cocktail stick

Yes, a scone is a type of quick bread so to get that big rise the baking powder is essential.

Unusual for a Victoria Sponge Cake to have cream first and then jam. It looks light and fluffy. Thank you.

That's just how I like to serve it :) I also find if you put the jam first the cream can slide around a bit. I hope you'll try the cake!
These are very common and well known conversions, I'm glad that you're wanting to be so accurate, I bake on C in a fan oven if that helps :)
