Memories. My mom told me that her ancestors used to bury sardines in certain parts of their field, to amend the soil . The other thing she told me was that a month or two before planting corn , they would bury a sardine per seed, covered with 3 centimetre or so of soil to cover the fish, then they would plant the corn seed. Her sister used to do very much the same process but after adding the soil to cover the fish, she would add a handful, more or less, of unused coffee ground, put some soil on top of the coffee grounds then plant the seed. She used the coffee to disguise the smell of the fish. Those plants were full of 🌽 .

Would be easier to see the trees if the camera is angled to use the white wall as a backdrop

Thanks for showing the approach grafting technique. I have thought you should be able to do grafts without separating the scion but haven't been able to find any examples until now. I will be trying this soon.

Hello...thank you for helping me begin to root cuttings from my dad's enormous fig tree. With the sell of my parent's home this year because they passed, I wanted to root cuttings because the tree that' s been growing for years and producing such luscious figs will truly be missed. I followed your directions using the 2 cup method and have been extremely successful rooting 12 cuttings. I live in Pa. so now we have transitioned to very cold weather and the plants have been growing in my sunroom where there is much sun all day long and I"ve kept the temperature in the 60's as it got colder.. They are ready to be planted into pots but since they have beautiful leaves, I don't know how to proceed considering these weather conditions and they appear as they would during summer growth. I"d like to send you a pic of them. I'd very much appreciate your advice going forward through my email so I can begin a dialogue with more questions if needed @ nicholette058.

30 years ago in my yard in Tarzana, planted a bunch of various citrus, one was a Multigrafted tree. That tree went from 8 varieties and now has one type of Mandarin on it now a small seedy one, so if you don't fully manage each fruit one will certainly over time over come the rest. This year gonna chop off all the little seedy mandarin and top work it with new seedless Tango's and Gold Nuggets. Not sure if i will buy some IV organics at 35 bucks for 3.5 oz, vs. diluted latex paint sample for a few bucks. Others have used the paint like that forever so.

Thank you for this great information. I live in San bernardino California. I got a dwarf orange tree. I have never pruned it. The branches are so leggy bending over. Some branches are touching the floor. After picking the fruit I will prune it. Thank you so much.

I'm still confused. My plan is about 2 ft tall with a lot of branches put the branches for all growing upward. I brought it in a little later than I should have in a lot of leaves fell off after turning brown. The plant itself though has plenty of green leaves and I really want to prune it to train it. Because I live in Connecticut and it gets cold in the winter I can't leave it outside so it's in a pot. Right now it's in a 5 gallon pot. It needs nutrients for sure and it's never grown a lemon. I'm trying to figure out where exactly to prune it. I wish I could show it to someone who knows what they're doing. I've always wanted one and never seem to be able to keep it but this one is doing so well and I want to make sure that it gets pruned the way it's supposed to. Do you think it's safe if I just take all the bottom branches off regardless of whether or not they're growing up or down. Also some of the branches are just really long and I don't know if it's okay to just prune some of the branches halfway down or do you have to take the branches off down to the trunk I hope I made sense and what I'm talking about. I really need help to figure out what to do. Also where I have to keep it in my home it definitely needs to be pruned down to fit in the area comfortably

I live in Zone 3 and while sunburn is definitely a problem to consider since our summer temps can swing wildly at any given time, the bigger danger for us is sunscald - the intense rays of the sun in spring as winter comes to an end. The rest of the tree hasn't quite warmed up as quickly as the air so the sun's rays in very early spring can cause a lot of damage to the side that faces the sun. The white paint prevents this.
