My dream car. Some desire a Rolls-Royce, some a Bentley or some other high or ultra high end automobile ( I did not say 'car' for a reason). If any one who has experienced an 1962 Oldsmobile Sta0rfire, cannot call that experience merely a 'car'. My father, owned cadila

.. sorry) added to last reply... . Ended up an Serious Olds man. Holliday 88, Olds 98 Luxury Sedan and a 1962 Olds Starfire. I knew every inch, washed and Blue Coraled it every weekend, (inside and out), and drove it, when I was allowed. Raved comments from anyone who saw it, still or in motion... and the engine sound, OMG! Would love to own one once again. Have shown the grand kids pics on U-Tube, and they even say, that's a pretty , (I'll forgive them), car. 1962 Oldsmobile Starfire. Automobile of my dreams. You've got to experience one.

This car is a top symbol of '60 at moment that people got a passion for space, lof of inspirations, your car is beautiful, nothing to say. Please make some other video with less sun and better quality, especially about details from interior ;)

What a beautiful car that don't make them like this anymore all they have is plastic and rubber stamps in these new cars they don't know what luxury is anymore I wouldn't trade this 62 for a new one this is just a beautiful car it's just like riding in a Lincoln Continental Corey Cadillac

Mine was eggshell which set off the chrome side piece. The interior was white which really brought out the beauty of the bucket seats. Wish I hadn't blown up the engine but hey, I was 20. Loved that car.

I wish GM would bring back these types of cars in this generation they would probably have to do some modifications to meet all the specs.

The metal top with its simulated convertible look caused a lot of excitement in 1962 as I recall. It was really a brilliant styling trick. The '62 Olds was one of the most attractive GM offerings.

@@dennishipsley8703 I never liked that bubble top on the 61s. It must not have been that popular . I guess it was 1961 only?

In 1962 I was in high school and let me tell you that silver strip olds were Da Bomb. The car was a total knock out! Everyone I knew wanted to be at the wheel of this or the new pontiac grand prix. But the Olds attracted a, well, more upper class following than the Pontiacs. The two big problems with some of early 60's Olds was that after raising the price of the top oldsto nearly a cadillac, GM decided to save money and put in the horrible slush box power glide two speed transmissions then when buyers howled said the four speed trans was too costly. People if they wanted to keep the car had to put in the exec pontiac 4 speed trans. But most simply sold the power glide cars. Their next car, believe me, was a Chrysler kids.... The other major problem was the #$%&@ hydraulic lifters. It hot weather they would pump up and stall the engine. There were gurus who could machine the lifters others put in noisy mechanical lifters or.some guys. Put in ROLLER lifters with the kit and a 3/4 cam and then bragged they had an "roller cam" .in their car. What great memories. There were lifter gurus who could machine the lifters

In 1968 when I was 8 years old my dad had the same exact car in the same exact color wow this brings back memories. It had power windows, power seats, AM Radio I wish GM would bring back this particular style back again like they did with the 2010 Camaro Thank You for posting.

Beautiful car. But $4000 dollars in '62 equates to about $35,000 dollars today. That is a "Princely Sum" to pay for an automobile, and exactly why I would never buy a brand new car (Unless I was so wealthy that I didn't have to worry about money).

I'm glad you restored it to original, factory stock condition. Too many of these cars are modified and souped up, losing their originality. The stylists knew what they were doing when they designed them, and I think they should be left that way! Beautiful car!

@williampennjr.44484 жыл бұрын
Many car company's don't include a spare tire anymore, just a tire repair kit. Donut tires aren't safe. Too many people will drive with it on longer than is suggested making it even less safe. Most people don't like that a full size tire takes up so much room.

That car is an absolute work of art! I have always been a huge fan of the 64 Impala.. But after looking at this car I may change my mind! One question.. does it have the type of speedometer that has a bar at the bottom that changes from green to orange then to red? Years ago.. my parents had a 62 Dynamic 88. I was fascinated with the color changing speedometer rather than having the red needle most cars have.

Incredible. That is one fine restoration! I had a 62 Dynamic 88 which was smooth as glass and a beast. The one thing that would keep me from buying another is parts availability. It was a daily driver for 6 years and I sold it in 2000. The 394 and slim jim trans were unique as was the permanently lubed suspension. I remember having a heck of time finding a new trans governor. Although with how far the internet has come, support and parts are probably much easier to come by these days.
