Thanks for reacting to my favorite vocalist! He IS perfection! When he first sang this to a Chinese audience during a competition in 2017, he had to wow the listeners and show his phenomenal vocal range. As he matured, however, you can hear more of the emotional angst in this song. As you listen to more of his songs, you'll see he can sing in a variety of genres. My three favorite songs are Samaltau (a folksong sung in Kazakh), Ogni Pietra/Olimpico (two names for an epic empowerment song sung in Italian), and Ikanaide (a "don't leave me" song sung in Japanese--he origianlly sang this in Chinese with the title Autumn Strong). Again, thanks for your positive and appreciative reaction! A Dear from California, USA. ❤

I agree, Dimash is among the best of the best singers. Evidently, he has a 7 octave range, and his voice is stunning. The only other two singers with that range that I know of are Scott Hoying and Mitch Grassi of Pentatonix, the acapella group who won The Sing Off (acapella group competition) in 2011. To watch their video of Hallelujah filmed in the desert outside of Barstow, California, USA, do a search on KZbin. If you enjoy them, I suggest you listen to their music videos after you finish with Dimash’s music videos.

You are one of the best reviewers. Not only in what seems to be the love you have for great music but your ability to describe what that music does emotionally….and not to forget your knowledge of the technicalities surrounding the instrumental delivery. Well done sir. Well done. Subscribed.

This song is a pearl of the French songbook: It is a French-Canadian cyberpunk-rock opera called “Starmania”, written in 1976 by Michel Berger (France) and with lyrics by Luc Plamondon (Canada) and immortalized in the voices of Daniel Balavoine, Diane Dufresne and Gregory Lemarchal. The theme of the song is depression: In the 2021 version, Dimash faithfully and brilliantly presents a sentimental and melancholy interpretation! As the singing decisions follow the original structure of the song, which serves to show the psychological instability of the afflicted character: From the chest voice to the head voice and then to falsetto, the author sought to show a broad need to overcome a moment of despair and the pretense of accepting to reach a higher perspective! Dimash, currently at his concerts, dedicates this song to his friends and acquaintances who have departed this world! Original version - Daniel Belavoine - kzbin.info/www/bejne/b5y9pneeqrmerqc

Welcome to the very deep rabbit hole that is Pink Floyd. Your journey is just beginning when/ if you get a little more time please continue to react to other tracks from their rather large catalog. You will like some more than others but you will enjoy it all . Some earlier comments suggest watching the video while listening saying your missing half the experience and they are right. But it’s your choice. Maybe try it a couple of times?

Yes, the lyrics help one to understand the vocal choices in this song but I agree that it can be tricky to read lyrics and absorb the music at the same time. Great reaction.❤️👍 Few point out the extra effects like the lighting choices which add so much to the rollercoaster of emotions. Dimash has a voice like velvet, sometimes polishing the extremes in range and yet other times undulating within the comfortable waves. Dimash is like a box of expensive chocolates as every song is very different yet exquisite in flavour. Thank you for insights and observations.❤ 🥰🥰Hugs from Canada🇨🇦

Dimash simply sings to the soul. The lyrics are not necessary to feel the emotion he conveys. I always listen without lyric translation first. I find reading the lyrics distracts from the emotion conveyed by his singing. I go back for the translation after.

At the beginning in Stranger it sounds an old Turkic stringed instrument called Kobys. It is probably the oldest bowed stringed instrument in the world and it spread to became the prototype of all European string instruments as violin an chello. That and the use of the fa minor key in the composition gives the vibe of Middle East /oriental/ exotic sound. Think he´s singing to migrants in general: "New ground far as I can see, new ground underneath my feet, Stranger in a stranger land, new chance to see who I am if I have the strength to begin again" Reminds me also to the Old Testament; Exodus 2:22 Moses, “And she bore him a son, and he called his name Gershom [that is, A stranger there]; for he said, “I have been a stranger in a strange land.”
