This was a great comeback song. Their latest album Pollinator was awesome. From that album the song Fun was very catchy with a great video. Debbie Harry is a true iconic figure. Love every thing they do. Also on the last album Debbie does a duet with Joan Jett “Doom or Destiny “. Another good track. Plus Blondie is still going strong with a new album to be released in 2025.

Noel Gallagher (Writer and guitar player) summed it up best with "That song is so long, and I often find myself drifting off enjoying the song and thinking, ‘What f***ng does it mean?’ “You know, ‘Walking down the hall faster than a cannonball' - What the f*** is all that about? And I should know, ’cause I wrote it, and I haven’t got a clue."

Fooling Yourself only went to #65 and should have been way higher. Fantasy was #3 on the US rock chart and #23 on the Hot100. Ball And Chain was a deep cut favorite and not a single. Monkey On Your Back went to #12 while Always Be Mine reached #127. They should have released Hold Back The Night and Hey Operator instead.

Nice one! 👍 It’s funny when I hear people say it’s nonsensical… “slowly walking down the hall, faster than a cannon ball”… Because it made perfect sense to me when I first heard it. I think that’s a clear distinction between those that have, and have not, tried a fistful of magic mushrooms 😂
@moteventure2 ай бұрын
Absolutely loved your reply @dantastic6262. You were correct on the magic mushrooms as well. What’s the next tune I should listen for?
@dantastic62622 ай бұрын
@@moteventure It all depends on what day you ask me, I could give probably 30 different replies… But today, I’m going to suggest The Masterplan. It’s a masterpiece of orchestral sound, backwards guitaring, sumptuous lyrics and a vocal delivery that makes it, in my opinion, the greatest B-Side ever recorded 👍

Here's the thing about Oasis. The lyrics are open-ended. Noel Gallagher wrote it one sense but the words could have different meaning and interpretation to others.
@moteventure2 ай бұрын
Hey @tashrif46. I kinda like that so it means something different to each listener potentially. Thanks for checking out the channel!
@dantastic62622 ай бұрын
@@tashrif46 I like to think of Noel Gallagher’s lyrics as ‘seeds’… They imply something and then you read between the lines with your own intuition. So the song becomes more about what isn’t actually said, with not enough being said to dissuade you from your own interpretation… Open ended is a good way of putting it 👍

The songs you mention that you have already heard are from their "POP" period. The Song Closer To Home came out on their 3rd Studio Album in 1970 and in that time they were a Trio Band and were known for their hard rock performances and best as a 'LIVE' band. In 1973 after several years legal actions taken upon them by their former manager they needed to change their musical focus and became for polished and produced more pop oriented music.

The band didn't do drugs other than an occasional joint. They wanted to focus on the music. Grand Funk is not complete without Mark Farner. They sold out Shea stadium faster than the Beatles did.
