You start listening to old fashioned AM Radio that is then jammed along by a fellow listener on an acoustic before everything becomes present

I always suggest listening to the studio version first, which you did. But to feel the full majesty of this son, watch Pulse live from 1994

good to know...how it shows up on my software vs. YT can be a bit varied. I'll make that change for my next one for sure.

With Pink Floyd you're always going to get an unexpected song when you play the next one! If you want to hear something that sounds futuristic even for today that was done in 1975, do another song from this album "Welcome To The Machine"!! And with those headphones when Richard Wright gets into playing his synthesizer you better be wearing a seat belt!!! I can see you've just started recently and if you want your channel to grow quickly just keep doing Pink Floyd songs! If you want to SEE them do an incredibly brilliant song when they were young and do "Echoes" Pink Floyd live in Pompeii where they perform a concert in an ancient amphitheater with no audience except for the ghosts of Pompeii!! They did echoes in 1971!!

THIS SONG IS NOT about Syd Barrett. Roger Waters explains it himself in an interview saying he wasn't even thinking of Syd when he wrote it. Shine On You Crazy Diamond was written while thinking of Syd after noticing an odd looking man wondered into the studio. Syd now weighed 300 plus pounds, had shaved his head as well as all his facial hair including his eyebrows. That this song is about Syd is just people's need to connect emotional dots that aren't real because, in their mind, it adds an extra layer of poignancy to the song.

Thank you Don for the clarification, as I learn as I go. Particularly helpful with the huge fans like yourself!

BTW Syd Barrett was still alive, but he had been lost to mental health issues and the effects of drug abuse. During recording, a fat bald man with shaved off eyebrows wandered into the studio. It took several minutes before they realised this was their old dear friend Syd

I was a bit confused initially on Syd as you can see! Thanks guys for sending me in the true direction on that point.

You are SO right. I was working on both videos and my facts obviously got jumbled in my head. Thank you for calling me out on that!

@@moteventure mo worries, love your energy. Pink Floyd is a highly varied group, hard to find 2 songs alike. They can and did pretty much everything from R&B covers in the early years/3 movie scores/ Jazz/Blues/Soft Rock/Hard Rock/Psychedelic Rock/Space Rock/Progressive Rock/Folk Music/ Country/R & B/ plus about 10 styles that are invented and unique to Pink Floyd, plus more...2 song suggestions. One of These Days, and Time...bonus track- High Hopes=preferably live 1994 pulse concert...which by the way: there are 30 or more masterfully played songs with the greatest production light show ever in that concert. I suggest a few more studio cuts before you delve into that. Hope this helps
