I have what's called a mini chain saw. I love it on our farm. As a woman working on our farm I can cut boards, bushes, wood. They run about 60.00. Its cordless and helps with small projects like you are doing.

Hello I’m trying to figure out how your building a home over 200 sq with out and owner builder opt out permit cause you cannot obtain one Under 4 acres so technically your building illegally i own land in Cochise county too so I’m just trying to figure out how you got around it and also do you even have a septic cause that is also mandatory so let me know how your getting around this cause i would really love to know thank you
@journey2homestead2 күн бұрын
1. As the title/content of the video shows we are not currently building a home, we are building a fence under 7ft so no permit is needed if we aren't in the process of building a home. 2. We do not live on the land, so we do not need to put in a septic yet. We have put in a lot of research before buying our land, and we have no intention of doing anything illegal. You may want to pair with the Cochise County Permit office (as we have) to get any information you may be looking for. Thanks for watching!

Great job, I may have missed this in another video, dumb question...but why the rebarb wire for those pillars?
@journey2homestead3 күн бұрын
There are no dumb questions here. The rebar helps reinforce the pillar and will absorb any tension that would cause it to crack/fail.

Hey off grid fam! I’m following the journey! I’m glad y’all are documenting the journey. I broke my lease 2 years ago and moved off grid on 87 acres in a 10x12 shed and it has been quite an experience! One piece of advice I can give is to get as much free stuff in the city as you can and build with that. Good luck with the journey!

Homesteading! Is where it's at! I see a lot of people going to AZ, but I hear digging a well can be costly as you don't know how far down the water sources are located. How often does it rain where you are? I'm still in my research phase, but what to get off the fence and just dive in at this point. I like the aspect of community you're building, because you're not the only ones out that way. Community is important!
@journey2homestead8 күн бұрын
Yes. It's expensive to dig a well for sure but at least there's usually always the option to haul in water. It's rained maybe twice in the last month. Research is good but once you get that feeling, I'd just go for it!

just a fyi about down here. avg wells here r costing around 15k just for digging it and the casing. if u want the company to put in the well pump and piping and wiring its around another 7500 bucks. then theres roughly a 15 month wait list for the driller to get out. then comes power.when i called about pwr the pwr company said it was 10 k a pole to start for grid power to b run. since you have a hitch setup for the suv i would get a trailer( harbor freight biggest one is decent for the money. weight capacity is like 1800 lbs or so. hauling materials and then u could get a 275 gallon ibc tote to haul water later if need b.
@journey2homestead10 күн бұрын
Pretty much everywhere in Arizona they seem to charge an arm and leg for a well. Likely we have power poles at the back of the property, so that will save us one expense hopefully. Thank you for the info, we'll check out the trailers!

@@journey2homestead Part of the reason for the high cost is the drop in water level. A guy I know in Cochise County just had his well go dry. They want I think another 5-10k to get to the water. They have to dig deeper and deeper around here.

Loving these videos! A way to get around seeing who the owner is of a property if it's held in an LLC is through a Secretary of State business search for most states. There are a few states behind a paywall, but a lot of them are free. Just plug in the LLC's name in the business search and you will see a list of the officers and the registered agent, when the LLC was formed, it's current status and an address. A registered agent could be the owner or the name of the person receiving the mail for the owner. Hope this helps. Keep up the great work!

We bought land in Cochise County earlier this year but havent been able to visit yet. Did it take long to book the surveyor? And about how much did it cost?
@journey2homestead12 күн бұрын
It took us a while to find a surveyor who would come out to our area without charging a lot. They were booked about a month out. We got a lot of quotes, but a lot of them included the distance they had to drive.
