Hip hop only really made this stuff popular in the 90's. I don't know what is causing a resurgence in work wear other than more people having to take on more physical labor jobs due to the cost of entry to skilled labor being too high (i.e. having to have a degree AND work history out of college).

For me, Carhart is not workwear. I actually wear it to the office. For field work in difficult climatic conditions, I have long worn Arcteryx, OR WildThing and TNF on the inner layers, and durable noname canvas jackets or armys parka&jacket on top.

I have a 16 yr old Carhartt/ Makita jacket in mint condition. I live in Florida so I only wear it maybe 15 times a yr but just the same I'm proud. It actually looks brand new,I was looking at the tag in the collar yesterday, its getting a little worn but that's it!

Used to work closing shifts before becoming a manager in the opening shift. I do value my openers but I never let them bad mouth any of my closers. I know it’s rough for them to clean the whole days mess and always support them. The unsung heroes

I have one opener who's a neat freak. Got cussed out once for paperclips on the till. Meanwhile, I'm an hour past closing because we had a ton of customers come in at 8:57 and muck up the place. Oh I'm sorry there's a $1 difference and you had to take it out of my bag to balance the till that must've been sooooo hard.

Good stuff. I work a white collar job now, but spent over ten years in blue collar work (factories, landscaping, construction/surveying) and I just haven’t found a brand that holds up the same way so I still wear it. Can afford it better now too, ha!
