I’ve tried many recipe for this dressing, but Nami's is phenomenally delicious. It’s absolutely. the best I would encourage people who are going to try this to be very accurate with their use of a scale and follow the amounts scrupulously. It’s so easy to use too much of any ingredient. I added black sesame seed which I've had served to me with it as Japanese restaurants.

Hi Isabel, Thanks for watching! I'm so glad you agree 🙂 You bring up a very good point, "It's so easy to use too much of any ingredient". Oooh I like that extra visual touch with the black sesame seeds.

Thank you for watching & commenting! That sounds delish I’m going to do that next week because I’ll have leftovers from my haul of raisins for my workshop. Thank YOU for suggesting! What’s your inspiration for adding raisins to lentils?
@rmp740012 күн бұрын
@@kalahealthandwellness I honestly do not remember how I started doing that except that I love dark, organic raisins and love lentils. The raisins use up any surplus water raisins cooked in by plumping up; they also add a nice sweetness to the grain of lentil. (I never use red lentils, and never Golden raisins, btw) When the lentil/plumped raisin compote is still warm, I pour cold Black cherry kefir over it (blueberry yogurt tastes great too)-- makes it a very smooth, complex of textures, flavors & temperatures -- without adding any oil! I make a big pot of lentils w dark raisins at least twice each month... It will last a few days, each time: If you refrigerate or freeze any leftovers ...just be sure NOT to add the dairy until ready to eat it. High protein/high fiber/ high iron/zero fat and great flavor. It is nutritionally wonderful and still affordable to prepare - Thank you for your questions!!!

I just made it the first time by soaking it in plain water overnight. I was going to drain and rinse the next day, but since I didn’t have cheese cloth, I just cooked it in the soaking water for 20 min. It cooked down into a cream of wheat like texture. I ate it with fresh butter I made from cream and it was delicious. Is it better to drain the soaking water, or do you loose nutrients?

Just so you know you can use the stems (and this also goes for hearty stems like rosemary, thyme, sage, and basil) throw into your vegetable stock mix, or stuff inside chicken during roasting or even make a healthy Tea or blend for sauce. Just FYI also growing herbs yourself instead of store bought eliminates the process of losing nutrients from all the time it takes to get from farm to grocery stores so Nutritional value and benefits of them is still present. I recommend you start a herb garden on your kitchen window seal or somewhere they can thrive and always have organic fresh herbs. Happy Healthy Life.👍

That looks like a very convenient option to make whole grain bread. Instead of grinding it you can just cook it down till you get a dough like consistency.

I don't understand why the recipe calls for 1 carrot or 135 grams but you have used 4 carrots? Even on the original recipe with the link you have provided, there is only 1 carrot shown. Is it just me or has anyone else noticed this. They look like average sized carrots not the mini ones. Thank you otherwise!! Looks great.
@kalahealthandwellness16 күн бұрын
Thanks for watching and catching that! I think Nami wanted to help people who did not want to use the scale, but with the way carrots are being produced nowadays, there are inconsistencies in size.

Great video, your recipe looks like it is delicious. Weighing everything is a great tip to ensure the consistency of the flavor. The only problem I would have with this recipe is that I don't cook with or eat sugar. I don't use any sugar substitutes, I only use honey occasionally, and on a rare occasion, I use maple syrup. Can I substitute either honey or maple syrup for the sugar?
@kalahealthandwellness16 күн бұрын
Thanks so much for watching and your kind words! Like @isabel95 said in one of the comments of this video, "It’s so easy to use too much of any ingredient." That scale is so key for this dressing. Yes, I would say that would be a challenge if you don't use sugar. I think honey and maple syrup would change the flavor profile. I have not tried it, but I think it would taste different and delicious 🙂 Considering this recipe calls for 1.5 tbsp of sugar, that translates to 4.5 tsp of sugar. 1 tsp of sugar is 4 g of added sugar. So 1 tsp of table sugar has 18 g of added sugar. Interesting calculation that I just made... 1 tbsp of honey is 17 g of added sugar. There 3 tsp in 1 tbsp. So 1 tsp of honey is 5.7g of added sugar per teaspoon. Honey has definitely less added sugar per teaspoon than table sugar. That said for this recipe, you may need to use more than a tbsp of honey. I would maybe say, maybe a little over than 3 tbsp to get the sugar content close to the table sugar. Sorry, I had to geek out on this long reply, because you got me curious. Thank you for asking!!!
