@@bint-e-nawabjahan372 How can that be? If you don't have any foundation in Chemistry or Biology, you still can? Does a student need to take the GAMSAT to apply for the post graduate if she or he has a Bachelor degree?
@bint-e-nawabjahan37218 сағат бұрын
@@wem-c9f Yes you gotta give GAMSAT or MCAT. They cover up every section including sciences. So you gotta score well in that even if you’re not from sciences bg. Being from science bg just gives you an edge in these tests as you’ll have good scientific foundation already and your test prep won’t be as strenuous comparatively

There is widespread feeling among medical academics to strongly favour the Australian born for med school. Partly because so many medicos are immigrating to Australia that the proportion of OZ born has been decreasing

Hi just a quick question, what if you're doing a undergraduate course that is 4 years long? My last year will be a residency in medical imaging, will this count towards my gpa and my 1st year won't end up counting? Thanks!

@studywithsanny22 Hello Sanny, When you apply for medical school, you preference where you'd like to complete your clinical placements, but it's ultimately determined via a random allocation process. I was allocated to a rural clinical school so I spent all three years in rural towns, but the vast majority of students complete their clinical years in Melbourne for the duration of their degree. Hope this helps!

coming from india im not sure how it works, but here you're usually required to hold a bachelor's degree within the past 10 years which a decent enough GPA (about 6.6+ out of 7 to be competitive), and then sit the GAMSAT exam (about 67+ to be competitive). Then you can potentially score an interview at unis and once you pass that, you get in. I would advise to look at the GEMSAS website and also search on official university websites such as UQ, UNSW and other medical unis to have a look at their admission requirements for international students as you may have to sit some english competency test too. Good luck!

Hi, the unis using gemsas, can you still apply to them directly or is it not possible, because it sounds like if you can only do one interview, it is much lower chances to get in, almost like if you dont believe your truly top level you should put higher preferences to easier unis to get into just to have a chance. for example, If i get an offer from melbourne uni for interview, the interview is worth 50% so its still very hard to get in from that point.
@AvaKim123 Жыл бұрын
Hi Ewan, For universities under GEMSAS, you can only apply via the GEMSAS portal and you aren't able to apply to each university directly. I would however discourage you from ranking medical schools based on what you perceive might increase your chances. If you don't get interview offers from your top preferences but you do from your lower preferences, you've still got a solid chance of getting into one of your lower preferences. However when you put 'easier' universities at the top and you get an interview from them, your chances of getting into the 'harder' universities would be minimal. Hope this helps.

Is there anyone who can answer my question? I am the father of a student who has recently been offered Chancellor's Scholarship (the University of Melbourne) As a Chancellor's Scholarship recipient, if my daughter is admitted to Biomedicine/Dental Surgery, later upon completion of the bachelor's degree, meets other requirements (70 WAM, MMI performance), can she change(choose) the master's course to the Doctor of Medicine other than Doctor of Dental Surgery without having to sit GAMSAT?
@seharpant5195 Жыл бұрын
tips 1. write untimed essays- focus on high quality essays- diversifying language (express that theme in a variety of ways and try not to sound redundant), unique ideas, start creating banks of evidence that you can apply to a variety of essays. read the school of life. 2. do a acer practice exam to gauge how questions are asked. 3. practice questions before studying content. the exam is more application based thank you think. 4. track your progress and create a spreadsheet 5. let the questions you are doing guide what you should cover (go watch tutorials and don’t isolate the process). a lot of this is deductive reasoning and a lot is mathematics based. practice your maths.

Would a 75 WAM in BSci at Melbourne university in tandem with a high percentile GAMSAT result be enough for entry into post graduate medical school at melb uni?
@bluebelle_thenerd Жыл бұрын
oh, and don't forget the interview obviously! A good GPA and GAMSAT will get you an interview which you have to do well in to get in to med
@AvaKim123 Жыл бұрын
Hi Ryan! Melbourne medical school alongside the rest of postgraduate courses look at your GPA and not your WAM :) I recommend calculating your GPA and looking at the spreadhseet I posted in one of my Q&A videos that shows the scores of previous successful applicants. Good luck!

*IMPORTANT* New changes have been made to the GAMSAT exam! Below are some changes to note (for more details, please refer to the ACER GAMSAT info guide linked in the description box): - The GAMSAT exam will now be divided into 2 separate testing windows: The 1st window is for Written Communication, and the 2nd window will be for Reasoning in Humanities & Social Sciences and Reasoning in Biological & Physical Sciences. The tests are spaced out in between two weeks. - Written Communication (S2) will be conducted first via remote proctoring, and the remaining sections (S1&S3) will be completed together in person at a testing centre. - S1 & S3 can also be taken online if you live 3 hours or more away (driving distance) from the closest testing venue. - Written Communication consists of 2 writing tasks to be completed in 65 minutes. - Reasoning in Humanities & Social Sciences has 62 questions in 100 minutes, and Reasoning in Biological & Physical Sciences has 75 questions in 150 minutes
