You're in MI! I've been wondering what the community looks like here. We were just up in TC a couple weeks ago for our anniversary and I've just bought my first two starter boxes. Really excited to try this out and how it might work to try some solo campaigning.

I am indeed in TC. Community is meh right now. I've been using the minis in some Pulp Alley games, and also been working on some solo thoughts for this as well.

I was just thinking about something like this, but trying to keep it more on the fantasy side. Pulling enemies from Rifts but bouncing between different fantasy realms.

A reader tagged me on a link to this video so I just checked it out. Thank you for the high praise for all our hard work on this series. Working on Conan and the other REH characters has been a real dream come true and our team is so wonderful to collaborate with. I feel incredibly fortunate. There is a grand long term plan for as many of these characters as possible, so if you don't see them all in this mini-series, know that there are more stories yet to be revealed...

Thank you for checking out my channel, sir! I came to Conan, and the Howard-verse later than most (around my late 20's) and have been enamored with his work and characters ever since. Howard's stories have inspired me not only in game designs but also in launching my own series of Pulp tales with my own original characters. I absolutely love what you and Titan Comics are doing with his characters and mythos. Thank you for sharing your talent and keeping the dream of Robert Howard alive and well.

This guy gets it. A lot of my adult gaming had been trying to recapture the feel of those first D&D sessions I played in the early 80s, and only OSR games deliver that.

Thank you for sharing! I appreciate your stories of gaming. I turned 50 this year and I have similar childhood memories of D&D and Marvel Superhero RPGs. I only played them with one other friend, but you and your channel reminds me of those days! I got back into the hobby around the pandemic but have only really played solo for the most part. T

I listened to this on my commute into work and it struck a chord. Especially the video game comparison. Definitely TTRPGs allow for the players imagination to render the scenarios, events, and landscapes. I was playing a video game later that day and another thing struck me. Dialogue. Dialogue between the players or especially NPCs. In video games, dialogue is mapped out but has a finite number of options and usually funnels you towards an end point. Playing at a table with a GM and players those options are wide open.

Great flipthrough! Is this a stand alone rulebook or a supplement that requires the Call of Cthulhu Keeper Rulebook? Are there additional books you need or would want to play this game?
@questwise4077
@questwise4077 Ай бұрын
It is not a stand alone, you would need the Call of Cthulhu rules, although the quickstart rules from the beginners box would be more than enough to play.

I quickly jotted this down on a piece of paper when I first heard it on the raido. I think it applies to what your saying with regard to the video games vs. pnp rpgs discussion. DND stimulates our imagination. watching tv and movies reduces your imagination. listening to things we are stimulating our brain to create our own *personal* images. the brain likes to produce images, its always imagaining things. people's visual imaging is richest when they are not being bombarded by external visuals. the more we work on making our own images the more powerfully attached we become to them because they arise deep within us. processing external visual images it is much more passive-cognotive mode compared to imagine one's own images. our mental imaging systems have freewilling authority to generatre whatever visuals they want. listening therefore imparts much stronger emotions than viewing. listening pulls you into the world while looking separates you from the world.

Well said, sir. Hear, hear! I am a compulsive world builder and world simulator, so I am definitely picking up what you are putting down. Old school games were always more alluring and romantic with their sense of mystery and wonder rather than the power fantasy and wish fulfillment focus of most modern fiction. They were worlds we could share and explore rather than walled gardens we had to abide the correct standards of. If I may offer a recommendation from my library, please take a look at Mappa Imperium. It's an amateur publication on Itch which focuses on turning cosmology and world history building into a 15 minute minigame and I think you'd find it interesting as a supplement to your gaming. Again, thanks for sharing. Cheers.

We're pumped for readers like yourself to check it out. Issue #1 is next week (Sept 4th)! (I do have plans for Bran Mak Morn down the road, but not in this particular mini-series. Also, yes, black stone is briefly mentioned in Worms of the Earth.)

T&T still doesn’t get the full appreciation it really deserves, sadly. Despite the rules having its own issues, also having some wonderful ideas, still. Just the idea of extracting itself from miniature wargaming and leaning much more into pretending to be like Conan or Merlin or Robin Hood or the Gray Mouser or whatever else and killing trolls, goblins, giants or drunken guardsmen minus precise spacing, measuring, exact time-keeping etc, but just fiction-fun. That’s a big deal for the era. It needs to be talked about, recognized and enjoyed. I don’t play it (anymore, though I ran a super fun and successful campaign for years…about 2005 to 2011), but its attitude still influences me and I’m glad it does! I encourage every gamer to examine it and take what ya may. 🙂

Dude, you didn't specialize? That's the one thing Fighter's get that other warrior classes don't: Use a proficiency slot to specialize with that Battle Axe and your attack volume increases to 3/2 right out of the gate.

Hello! I found this video not by algorithm but by pure digging around (and getting lucky I guess). After 10 years of DMing 5e DnD I have come to the same conclusion, that magic is really not magical. I would even go as far as to say that the original problem that Arnessson and Gygax attempted to solve was not " How can we put magic into a game" but rather " How can we make a good game, and also include magic". These are different approaches entirely, and I feel that magic in rpgs are mostly designed to limit magic and restrain it for balancing purposes. I have tried to piece together your series on rpg magic systems but cannot seem to get a coherent playlist out of them, could you perhaps place the videos you made on the topic into a youtube playlist? :) Would be greatly appreciated, peace!

I tell ya what man, that Super Absorbing Power, phase II is very underrated, despite his "difficulty rating" in the community. I feel like one ill timed treachery at five or below health, or with a low card hand (maybe one where you had used cards on villain phase) can be CRIPPLING to your win percentage vs. him. But, man they nailed the flavor on it for sure. Very thematic villain I enjoy running against anytime I crak open my Red Skull stuff.
