I was about 10 when this came out. Great movie, esp. with this character. Most of us can relate to having a foreign exchange student in the house, or school. Long duk Dong, what a name. For those of you who did not grow up in the 80s, dong was also another name for a man's member. Just so you know. So....long dong!! Yeah, that one I did not get until puberty or after.

We look back at some of these scenes now and think WTF but the 1980's weren't the dark ages. The Asian jokes are really offensive and some of the scenes with Ted and Caroline border on the psychotic. Was John Hughes insane? What about the rest of the people who worked on the film? Maybe they shake their heads now but how about back then? Was everyone really okay with this?
