11 years later nothing.... Selfdrive was promised in 2013 to have it in 2017.... Nothing. Robotaxi... 2020... Still none. People on Mars in 2024... still not a rocket to Mars. Claim to have battery with 50 percent more power... True... But battery is 50 percent larger... Musk is a big hoax. Only thing he have done is to have alot of batteries, and more or less copy design of petrol cars. Thats it.

Why did Tesla battery swap fail? The $500K battery swap stations ended up costing $2 million apiece, and Better Place only secured one partner - Renault, whose 2011 Fluence Z.E. had a battery that allowed for an 80-mile range... So when Tesla spoke of the problems with battery swapping, they'd essentially discovered how impractical the whole idea was.

The only reason this isn't happening yet is because Elon can't produce enough battery to justify this sort of technology, which is already doable as Nio proved.

10 years ago tesla sold a couple of thousand cars. Last year Model Y was the best selling car in the world. I think Musk is an idiot but he did achieve some quite impressive things.

It won’t happen, he sold you on a false spin. The manual is 3 hours min up to 13. It wasn’t even bolted in , the entire undercarriage was gone plus the safety harness and wiring.

10yrs later... this was never adopted or needed lol Superchargers are just fine. Side note, I wonder what would happen if u hot swap it today... they never disconnected firemans loop or 12v... might have been special software on those cars... Also most likely those cars didn't have bottom plastic trims that cover bolt holes...

One plus side would have been not having to worry about battery degradation. I have 81k miles and sitting at 15% degradation, kinda starting to get worried since I bought the Standard range plus.

@@johnny112115 You're assuming they would always swap in the new one.. i don't think that would be the case based on how they doing warranty repairs with matching degradation. This is probably another reason why they abandoned this idea, managing like for like swaps would be a nightmare.
