Cool edit. Ultimately it’s Obi-Wan who believes Anakin to be still within the celestial realms.

The emotion, the acting. Such a AAA experience that Disney could never re manufacture. Even though he is wearing a helmet you can feel Vader's expressions changing through the scene.

How incredible is Luke, right? Here he is surrendering, risking his life to save his father, the same man who cut off his hand 🖐️.

2:37 Obi-wan mirrors this line in the Kenobi series "then my friend is truly dead." The difference? Luke managed to pull Anakin back to the light even after that.

These lines are so effing menacing, man. Vader is sick! The good side of him barely still attached, maybe kept Luke alive, maybe saved the Galaxy by wasting Palpatine!

Lukes compassion does come from his mother but him being reactionary as well comes from Anakin Why I don't think his character was ruined in the Sequels.

This story and Vader and Obi-Wan's history was so compelling, and then we got the prequels.. lol.. what a joke. I HATE SAND YOU UNDERESTIMATE MY POWERRRRRR. There was no natural conflict or tension between them, Anakin just up and flipped his shit and started mass murdering people for no valid reason. This could have been such a good story. Lucas literally just had to rip from history and then tell the story from the perspective of people living it. What a hack.

"Your mother once thought as you do", would have been great. Audiences back in 1983 would have thought om Vader once being more human. People would also have thought about that woman, who she might have been.

Looking back at this now I never knew the line 'then my father is truly dead' was subtly nodded to in the Kenobi series after their final fight where Kenobi says "then my friend is truly dead". Nice touch.

I was expecting a funny video. Instead, it's still a great scene from Return, just with a small change I can't help but sense that Anakin is ignoring the conflict; putting it down because he agrees that he has gone too far Whether he's talking about Obi-Wan or Padmé, he can't help but feel a sense of guilt because he let them down But Luke was ultimately right; Anakin returns in the end He sees the goodness of his former friends, his mother, and his wife in his son
@lorider7002 ай бұрын
I think this line makes a lot more sense. It makes more sense for Vader to mention Luke's mother instead of Obi-Wan considering this conversation is Father-Son and not Master-Padawan related. Plus, it was actually Padme who believed he could be redeemed way more so than Obi-Wan. It honestly doesn't make as much sense for Obi-Wan to even be in this conversation.

After seeing the prequels I wife Lucas had had the foresight to have Vader mentio Padme in the og trilogy. I wish in his final words to Luke he had said something about wishing Luke and Leia could have met their mother: a strong woman, very beautiful, loving. Etc.

One thing I hate about Star Wars in general is that Padme gets the bare minimum of recognition and memory from her children. Yeah, we know Anakin was the greatest and all, but Padme was an on-site senator and fought valiantly for freedom since she was 14 and risked her life

Never got onboard with the idea Anakin would challenge Obi Wan constantly, but never the Emperor (not until it's too late) And like, the way he resigns himself here. Just assumes he can't defeat Luke. Pretty weak writing

Well, in the original version of ROTJ, I am sure Anakin/Vader never actually said that, but it does seem to be something that Lucas might have added when bringing out his Revised Editions (just as he replaced Sebastian Shaw by Hayden Christensen in the final scene of ROTJ). And even if GL had made his two trilogies in a different sequence, there is no way Anakin could have heard Padme say this, as she said it on Polis Massa after having given birth to the twins, when he was clearly on the other side of the Galaxy. (Though of course it would be always expedient to say he was aware "through the Force".)

Bro! I watched this scene not too long ago and I literally thought changing "Obi-Wan" to "Your mother" would've been the perfect edit for ROTJ for better consistency with ROTS. Why oh why did Lucas not fix this line when he was making all of his changes to the OT?
