But the "amphibious Sherman" was a reall tank in WW2 they were one of the creations of Percy Hobart who if my memory recalls is actually the creator of the Blitzkrieg tactic and the founding father of modern tank warfare. This floating tank, along with others such as a bridge tank, and flamethrower tank were refered to as Hobarts funnies. Anyway, long story short , these were modified Churchill and Sherman tanks with unusual features that were used to support the Normandy landings on June 6, 1944
