hate to be the one to break it to 13 year olds obsessed with this man, but just because you like him or his music’s helped you through a tough time doesn’t make him any less of a shitty person. it’s great that you were able to find comfort in something during a tough time, but in reality this man doesn’t know you exist and quite frankly doesn’t care. everything he does is engagement farming, from cringe content to rage bait to stitching videos. he’s someone who saw the opportunity to profit off of a subculture where (although obviously it a requirement for being in said subculture) a lot of people struggle with their mental health, and he decided he could make money off of it, and by doing this giving himself the opportunity to run back to the “i’ve hurt myself/i'm depressed/i’ve tried to unalive myself” comments as a sort of protective shield. just as stated in the video, everything he does is a gimmick. he’s not “raising awareness” to anything, seeing as how the majority of his lyrics about self harm are purely glorification. he’s a genuinely shitty person who doesn’t deserve the money he’s making from profiting off of the culture, and i hope the kids who listen to him will grow up with the clarity to recognize that. no hate to them, because a lot of them are young and don’t have enough experience to know better, but he really isn’t a figure to model yourself after.
