I kept most of my budgets under $5,000 and each movie made between $10,000-$50,000, but I always dreamed of making something with a proper budget.

I reckon if I never searched on here for film making info, this would have never showed up. Even knowing relatively few people are seeing this, PLEASE keep up the good work! Your helpfulness will definitely earn you honorable mentions!

Hey Sky! Thanks for all the videos up until this one so far! How would a Canadian go about this, as we don't have LLCs? setup a Canadian "Corporation", then use that entity to start a "Partnership"? would that give the liability needed to proceed with your examples? thank you so much for your time! for reference we have these entities: Sole proprietorship Partnership Corporation Branch operations Joint venture

"A" owns the copyright, if he licenses out his copyright for a toy that doesn't mean that toy company owns the rights. But if "A" sells the copyright to that toy company THEN that toy company owns the copyrights and can use the license however they like because its now their's.

Why isn't a film body or organization issuing standard contracts for use in the film industry? Filmmakers aren't Lawyers, they're Artists. Other industries do this, either as a free document or for a nominal fee (i.e. under 20 bucks), which are used across the industry and internationally? That's a no-brainer. SAG could issue them for example - Casting is then a breeze even for tiny independent producers.

Right of First Refusal: Owner agrees they will return to the potential buyer and offer it back to them only if owner proposes to sell the property to a third property for less than the potential buyer offered in the first negotiation. I've been taking notes throughout this series and this definition tripped me up.

Question: I (photography hobbyist) create a book called "The people of San Diego), Where I print pictures random non-famous people of San Diego, without consent. It's not transformative art...but is it newsworthy?

What if I allowed someone to use my work but then they started to try to make money from it without asking me. I asked them to stop using my work and to remove it. Do I still won all rights to my work if we didn't make a contract?
@mr_indie_fan
@mr_indie_fan 2 жыл бұрын
If you license out the rights to a work to someone else you can always take that license from them because you own the rights and they only have a license, this video is a load of bullshit.

Thanks. Won't rely on oral contracts. Some people give permission by email wuthout signing off on documentation, but don't rely on permission given in an email as well.

anything has mutual agreement in the email could be treated as written and it could be part of your contract. But still need a more formal way to finalize the contract tho.
