Every gun made by a factory has a ballistics profile run and recorded, which is forwarded to the ATF, along with the make, model, caliber and serial number. The ATF is also given the tracking information as to which gun dealer sold it and if that's not a backdoor gun registry, you don't exist!
@CraigSummersКүн бұрын
Atf has to track a serial from mfg to distro to dealer. They must request this info. They dont automatically have it

TLR7 HLX is a great light, a total upgrade from the TLR7a. The difference is staggering with both double the candela and lumen output. I carried a Cloud MCH HC for a couple years on duty. Worked great as a tactical handheld flashlight but I always carried an admin light when I needed less output or flood when searching for items. I currently EDC a Surefire EDCL2-T... not a lot of candela(11k) but enough lumens (1,200) to get the job done and a very useable task light on low.

As a 30 year law enforcement officer homicide investigator and firearms instructor. I can confirm a few things. I have never had to interview a person who was shot in the upper torso with a 45 or 40, they were either dead at the scene or when they arrived T the emergency room. On the other hand, I have interviewed numerous people shot in the same manner with 9mm and lesser calibers. I have seen what bullets do to people and their bodies. From the street to the autopsy room. There are a number of reasons handguns stop people. 1 a central nervous system hit 2. Rapid blood loss, causing a severe drop in blood pressure,3 their response to getting shot( this is very dependent on the individual and what their mind set is and what stimulate they are on at the time ) because a certain caliber will kill doesn’t mean it will stop some ant the time they are doing what they were to be shot for. Meaning they can continue their assault on someone until their body starts to shut down. With this said. The overwhelming majority of people are shot in the torso and the bigger hole means faster blood loss. Be it external or internal. The larger diameter rounds are far more effective in causing this. ( unless it’s a central nervous system hit, and that means hitting a target about 3 inches wide,the spinal column). Oh one more thing ballistics gel testing is fine to see how rounds look. But gel does have bones organs and a soul. It can never show how a hell bent person on drugs,alcohol or just adrenaline, will react to being shot.
@CraigSummers2 күн бұрын
Thanks for the comment. Have any of those instances & interviews regarding 9mm taken place in the past 20 years? Lots of great projectile development has taken place since the 90's and early 2000's
@markmarch97062 күн бұрын
@ Yes I actually just retired a few years ago, the modern advancements in bullet technology that people love to quote about the 9mm has also been applied to other rounds like the 40 and 45. Is the 9mm going to take up a lot of killings on the streets. Oh yeah, but one first must understand that it’s way way more common to encounter. It’s the cheapest round between the major calibers and is being used now in more law enforcement agencies across the country. In my opinion is it better now. No. The reason for the switch back to the 9mm is cost. Plain and simple. Agencies save big time on costs using a 9mm over the 49 and 45. Especially when it comes to training ammunition. Just in my area of the state there have been several law enforcement agencies involved in shootings, not a single suspect has passed away almost those agencies including my agency have wet to the 9mm.

Yep…other commenters busted you right off. You would think that you would advocate for the front sight that enables your eyes to see it best as fast as possible. That’s EXACTLY what the Big Dot sights are. Maybe your next $1,500 class can pull out a stack of flash cards with bad guys on it to really hone that effective sight picture. Guess what…you can take your front sight off your 17 and still score kill shots at 10 feet. Those classes are really paying off.

I have never heard of any civilian being involved in a handgun fight at distances of 100 yards (also I’m sure there would be other legal ramifications if there was). The XS Big Dot is faster and easier to find. The XS big dot is 6 MOA. A 6 MOA dot is 1.5” at 25 yards and 3” at 50 yards. Unless your groupings are smaller than that, a smaller front sight is not going to help your shooting in anyway. A smaller sight, at the unrealistic self defense distance of 100 yards, in theory is more accurate because you can see more of the target. However, I would argue acquiring the sight picture takes longer because the sight is smaller. Furthermore even though the big dot would cover a larger portion of the target, it would still provide a clear aiming point and quick target acquisition. Again, unless your groupings at that distance are less than 6” (6MOA) you are not going to be “handcuffed” by the big dot sight.
@CraigSummers28 күн бұрын
@@steveniemyer9288 the size of the front sight is not the issue. Its the entire design which only allows you a gross sight picture. Start thinking about targets in terms of size, not distance. Could you place an eyeball shot at 10 yards if necessary.?

I found out the hard way that they will NOT accept anything except that LTC-104 for proof of training. I have a Ohio peace officer training certificate AND a 12 hour basic pistol training certificate from a NRA class I took. Even though I had proof of way more training than the state requires they wouldn't accept any of that. So I had to pay yet again to take another class and another test just so it was on the LTC-104 document. A completely and utterly silly process in TX considering Texas is now a constitutional conceal carry state. (2024)

During the 1960s, I met and conversed with three surviving Moro warriors who had immigrated to Guam. They survived three wars while in the Philippine Islands. All three were nearly 90 years old and proudly displayed battle scars. Two of them were captured and imprisoned by American forces. The third eluded capture but finally surrendered after American forces apparently captured his children and threatened to execute them if he didn’t surrender. In their own words as translated by the grandson of the third warrior (a decorated US Marine that served in Korea and Vietnam Nam), these warriors stated that the .45 really was no better than the .38 that it replaced. The two of them that were shot with .45 ACP multiple times said that they gave up due to fatigue and lack of nourishment. They were just tired of fighting over several years. American forces cut off their food sources. They KNEW that Americans would feed them after capture. They said that the success of the .45 was due to the fact that they were weakened from lack food rather than the power of that gun. The warriors said that their will to fight was because of the anger that they felt towards the enemy that was invading their homes.
