I have a tarted up 355, lookin at doin the LS thing... figured I might as well throw a cam in it like I did my carbed 350.... Lesson learnt. Gonna just find a mystery junkyard engine and leave it alone. Also was gonna do the terminator thing.... maybe not that either now, but you didnt say why not.... You're spot on about just wanting to drive the thing too.

Will the exhaust headers from the gmt800 or gmt900’s fit in the gmt400 trucks/suvs?

Is there any increased concern of the same lifter hanging up again? Anything that can be done to lessen the chances, or is it just kinda random luck? 🤔 love the videos👍
@krustyclassicsgarage22 ай бұрын
No. Could happen with any lifter at any time. Just keep up with maintenance and oil pressure problems if they happen.

I am going to ls swap a 81 el Camino taking the motor and trans out should I drain the trans fluid before pulling it? And can I use the original mounts it already has? For the ls
@krustyclassicsgarage22 ай бұрын
Yes. Drain oil and transmission fluid. Unless you have a spare slip yoke to put into the back of the transmission to keep the trans fluid from running out once the driveshaft is pulled out. Yes, get a set of cheap swap plates off of amazon and bolt your old motor mounts to those for the LS

💯 spot on. I have no concerns about doing the physical install and getting the systems around it up and running. However, I’m not going to pretend to understand that I know or understand all of the mechanical requirements and relationships brought for me to tear an engine down and modify it. Like you’ve mentioned, there’s countless daily example of people falling into this trap with no way out.
@ScottLight102 ай бұрын
💯 agree with you, I’ve been turning wrenches for over 30 years and I’m starting my first LS swap. I love to hot rod around, but this was my first thought. Get it put together and work all the bugs out and just drive it for a while and learn some good LS basic tuning stuff. Great videos buddy and advice.

I would like to see a video on what radiator and fan you recommend? Stock 1970"s..ish radiator that came with the old car/truck or a more modern radiator like from a donor vehicle? Advantages or disadvantages of mechanical fan vs. junkyard electric fan.

Great videos on other channel and I’m sure this one will be too. The s10 headers, drivers side do you think a front drive shaft in like a 4x4 Ranger will hit them? Thanks for all the good info.

Shouldn't be close to hitting, but I can't say for sure as I've never done one.
