Giddes may have originated the song , however Bob Marley's version made it go viral , the song lives on long after the artists are gone , thank you Malawi .

In America the song was recorded by the Flamingos then the Persuasions and the meanings are different because Native Americans called Black Soldiers Buffalo Soldiers because their Black skin and wooly haired reminded them of Buffalo. The African version is about immigrating to America to become rich. Bob Marley’s version is great bu it is not the original and our children love it too. I am descended from Buffalo Soldiers. Do your research because Facts matter!

me i can say bob marly was inspired by the song and the situation where the africans were at that time. since he felt that the song was having alot of inspiration and messages, he had to redo it but from that audition, I can say Giddes is the original owner of the song. during those days, copy right issues wasn't serious like today.

My father was a solider from bufallo in namibia where Iwas born. Back in 1994 American gorvement wanted to buy all the baffalo soldiers better known as the 32 battalion. If u Google 32 battalion u will get what am trying to say but at the end when Namibia got it's independence the baffalo soldiers remained in south africa as the sadf 2 SAI.

Those oiyoo and that of Linny ooh sounds too similar. Does Bob have other songs with this kind of phrases? I have no idea coz I don't know their songs enough to compare that.

Is this an analyses from lusicologist? Intertextuality, the the text itself is plagiarism. It s 9 vous that Bob Marley copied or rather plagiarized 9r whatever you like it. This seems to be same like Greeks and Egyptians. The true question is who did what first?

The phrase "this time for Africa" on its own already implies that the song had been done at an earlier time. So she indirectly admits to stealing/borrowing/copying the original song.

Chalamanda should be paid for his song. The buffalo soldier phrase is the hook of the song and then the ho yo yo yo part that’s more than a coincidence.

It is possible that the idea came from the original song I mean it's like original Donaldson song "lion sleep" you can tel it's an interpolation to a south african song imbube by Solomon go look up for it so this makes sense. Ofcause the other artist has to be creative with it

OK I just have a question. ...... is he saying the bob took the song or is he just talking about the African beat vs Jamaican beat I mean when you hit a drum and someone else hits a drum. It's a drum so who did it first doesn't matter.
@AlufeyoBanda-cv2we9 ай бұрын
Ok but if the Chalamanda sung it in 1974 followed by Marley 4 years later then it is crear that Bob take it and polished it up here and there.This is not new to famous artist around the world they all polishes up unrecognized songs

It seems like Giddes s was the Original to the time he done it,,...Sporty Williams got hold of that SONG and gave it Bob Marley, They put a twist on it with a higher pitch, that's you get , The fact GIDDES SONG was older speak volumes , IT recorded first, it's Mistry , that's how the music business goes.

Bob Marley has always looked to Africa. His song "war" was is from a Haile Salassie speech, His ring on the legend album cover is a Haille Selassie ring given to him by the family. Two totally different songs, only the title and the word America in both songs. They both see America in a different light. Look up the song "Hello" it is sang by Lionel Richie as well as a Trinidadian group Kes as well as a British singer, all three are totally different songs. Please stop over analyzing this. Both of these gentlemen are legends who sang it first does not matter to me.
