Wow! I am so impressed by the way you handled that beautiful little old man! You worked on him with such great care and respect! I feel so much for these old pups and grooming them can be quite a challenge for a groomer. I love your “it is what it is” approach with him as you just did to him what was doable without stressing him out and forcing him into positions that would be too uncomfortable to him. Senior pets deserve all the love, best care and the greatest respect! You are such an amazing groomer! Your explanations are clear, well detailed and very helpful! I have been learning to groom my soon-to-be 8 year old Cocker Spaniel at home for the last year, and your videos have been a Godsend! I learned to do his head by watching your two Cocker head grooming videos! I love your work, your joyful energy and your wonderful sense of humour! This sweet old boy looked absolutely gorgeous to my eyes…Thank you so much for this excellent 28:02 demonstration! 🐶💕🐶💕

You are so good - It’s just wonderful to see and hear how kind you are. My border only get strips on his back as he just doesn’t have hair that pulls on his head or face. I have watched your tutorials many times - I just found you the absolute best - Dee 🇫🇷

Ok Michelle, this is great. But can we get this tutorial on a bigger and/or heavier doggo, one that doesn’t tolerate having its paws held like that. ESPECIALLY on rear paws, when the dog acts like it doesn’t have 3 other legs/feet to balance on, and the lead butt kicks in? Cause I was excited to use this tutorial on my giant doodle yesterday, but then he did ALL of that. So the tutorial all when out the window, and I just had to do what I could. 😩

Isn’t it always the way?! 😊 Let me see who is spicy this week and see if I can get that for you! All our client dogs learn spicy isn’t the way to go, so we don’t have a ton. But I’ve got it on my list now!
@gillybird86

@@TheInformedGroomer-kf6wv thank you! Doesn’t have to be immediately, but whenever you can. This particular dog wasn’t spicy/naughty. Just very putzy. The kind of dog you have to lift the opposite leg up in the air so you can scissor or clipper the one you’re working on. And then he just likes to collaps onto his hip when I pick up a back leg. A lot of dogs we see can be like this, despite how hard we try to work those behaviors out of them. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Wow... this is just perfection!!! Such beautiful paws on that gorgeous dog! I have an American Cocker Spaniel and I have watched your two Cocker grooming videos, as I have been learning to groom him myself at home. I have taken your great tips and have been trying to apply them to my grooming but, I am far from greatness!!! Now, I will have to try to do his paws just like this here!!! Thank you so much for your videos! They are very precise and extremely well explained! You are a great groomer! And, you have a wonderful sense of humour !!!🐶🐾🥰

Thank you so much for this very informative video! I have a Cocker Spaniel and I started grooming him myself in the last few months, with no prior experience whatsoever. I watched your 2 videos on Cocker's head trim (puppy and adult) and they really helped me work on my Cocker's head and face. I really enjoy watching your videos. You give excellent tips and your instructions are very clear. Thank you so much, I will keep watching and learning!!! 🥰🐶🐾

Wow! What precise scissor work! Thank you so much for this video! I have an American Cocker Spaniel and was wondering if this method would apply also to Cocker feet? The tip you gave about using the scissors over the comb to trim the legs is fantastic! Such a great idea! I have been learning to groom my Cocker at home just by watching KZbin groomers and I must say that your 2 Cocker head trim videos are the ones that have helped me the most in doing my Cocker's head! You are a great groomer! I hope to see more Cocker videos! 🐶🐾

Oh my gosh...what a great video! I just watched your Cocker puppy video and now this one, and I am learning so much from your great work and such wonderful tips! I started to groom my 7 year old American Coker Spaniel at home in the last year and it has been a challenge, specially doing the head right. This video is so informative and helpful in my grooming journey! The head shots from the top are excellent and the way you explain how to place your hands around the crown is a great tip! And this boy is just gorgious and yes, he looks like Elvis, but then again, Elvis was gorgious! I wish you could do a full Cocker Spaniel grooming video! Thank you so much for this amazing work! Love Love Love Cockers!!! 🥰🐕🐾

Thank you for this very informative video! Very clear explanations, and what a gorgious puppy!!! I started grooming my own adult American Cocker Spaniel myself in the last year and I am NO professional groomer for sure, so I have been learning by following groomers on KZbin. I find the head difficult to do so I must say that your video has given me some excellent tips! Wonderful work on that beautiful puppy! 🥰

I recommend having your hand properly measured so that you can make sure that you aren't purchasing shears that will fatigue your hand! Now if we were hand twinsies that would make you an 'Even set, long shank' which a lot of Geib shears are but if your hand was an 'Off set, short shank' most Geib shears would quickly fatigue your hand.

Do you use any drying aid/post bath conditioning sprays or no styling sprays at all?
@TheInformedGroomer-kf6wv
@TheInformedGroomer-kf6wv 9 ай бұрын
I don’t use any additional products after the bath, simply because I find that many products attract dirt and I wouldn’t want to add anything that makes it more difficult for clients. But really I guess it’s just personal preference.

How do you recommend trimming the bottom of the ears when they get too long? Especially for an adult dog.
@TheInformedGroomer-kf6wv
@TheInformedGroomer-kf6wv 10 ай бұрын
We do have a video on doing an adult American Cocker head but if you don't want to watch that, a quick overview would be to make sure that you have the clients permission to shorten the length of the ear. Then cover the ear leather with your fingers so you know where flesh is. After that you can scissor rounded or straight across depending on owner preference.

I hate when groomers blow on dog's faces, even for things like getting them to shake their head so you can see how the ears are sitting. There are too many dogs that can potentially get triggered by that and lunge right at your face to bite you, and you were right in their bite zone for that to happen.

April, Thank you for your concern, however you are not taking into account the length of the grooming loop, my hand on her chin, or the distance my face is to the dog, along with the temperament of this dog. All of which is done very safely not only for the dog but me.

Are there any coat colors that you prefer doing a 7f with or 7f reverse on for the muzzle vs the 10? Or do you 10 all your american cockers?

If the pigment isn't great then I will lengthen the blade so that it doesn't look pink. We have a near albino Cocker and I have to be very careful not only so she doesn't go pink (versus white) but also so that her skin isn't irritated due to the lack of pigment.
