I do this to keep from feeling like my left side is collapsing and hooking the ball

A full swing 7 iron carries 100 to 110 metres depending on strike and lie in winter. Add 10 m for summer distances. Run out varies on surfaces and could be 5 to 15 m on top of carry. I can also change these distances by shortening the swing or delofting the club through ball position. All of which can lead to some confusion and occasional bad club choices. But at least Shotscope and SkyTraK has offered all these measurements that have since been verified on my home course.

Do you exclude the outliers - the fats shanks thins - from your 10 shots for average? Otherwise I’d have a range of 2 - 180 yards with my 7 iron 😂

I hit my 7 iron 145 carry. I’d like to hit it a bit further but I need to work out more for that and I don’t have time. Currently 3.9 but would love to be a bit lower

160 carry average on a 7 iron My 8 is my 150 carry club But just bought some p790s and they are going longer but haven’t got the distances nailed down yet 😁 Basically in perfect conditions and I’m 165 out I’ll be hitting a 7 and it generally gets there depending on strick 😁😂

If I don’t skull it, or hit a worm burner then carry is roughly 135

A great rule of thumb I like to do with golfers who have launch monitor data is use the average minus the standard deviation. That will give you a number that ~84% of your shots will carry beyond. Great way think about club selection when you have a forced carry.

Coach, I always play to the back of the green and use a club that gets me to that distance, because most of us amateurs are shorter rather than longer, according to Arccos and Shotscope data. You will hook the ball doing this and end up in a fight with the club captain, putting out on the 7th. Followed by a lengthy ban and eventual termination of your club membership. Depression, marital breakdown, loss off employment and years of endless regret.
