I had this exact same car as my first car is rust brown and absolutely loaded with every option. These were a fantastic little car to drive. And the sound of that 2800 when the exhaust was allowed to really breath was glorious. Good Lord was that a fun car. 👍🏻😎👍🏻

My first car, exact colors in and out. Bought in 1975 used 10,000 miles for $2,000. I loved that car. Kept it for 8 years. It was considered cool and very admired. I remember it shaking back then too if went too fast. Rust was a big problem but that was the times. This brought back memories seeing the inside same color.

I would say it’s likely a real SS. All 73 Super Sports had the tail panel painted black like that. The 74 bumper on the front would drive me nuts, but it’s a beautiful car with the perfect stance.

Wow , nice . I had a 74 LT type z28 also . Mine was almost exactly like that . Mine was 4speed , L82 , non ac . Had it for 23 years . Bought it with new brown paint , which I didn't like . Had it painted gm red , looked good . Mine was originally a sand gold , which would have looked better than brown .

As the other poster said, and I too love the 74 Z28. Its too bad this was an A/C car......my brother had a 74 Z also, and it had a 3.73 rear gear in it, sweet car. Not sure if this one was a true radio delete or just had the plate installed. This one is not correct because it has the emblems on the fender WITH the hood stripe. If you had the hood stripe, you did not get the fender emblems. I still like it.

I was there when the car came out in 74 and the opinion was the same, ugly bumpers. It was a hurry job by GM to meet the 5 MPH bumper government mandate.

I'm not Mormon and don't agree with the church, but this is a beautiful commercial with a beautiful message. Honestly I'd love to see more religions focus on campaigns like this rather than some of the icky political stuff they get up to. This is a timeless message that resonates with virtually everyone. Look how many people here remembered this commercial even decades later and spent time searching for it. That should tell you something.

In 1987 you could not get t-tops with a 350, you had to get the 305. If you wanted a 350 you got a hardtop. This changed in 88 or 89, but in '87 they were worried the car wouldn't be rigid enough for the extra torque. 350 was also only available with an automatic. If you wanted a manual you had to get a 305.

@@shawnwhite2572 It was %100 stock. Maybe Chevy held off on that combo til later in the production year, idk. But I’ve owned the 87, an 88 and an 89. I knew all those cars pretty well. I also clearly remember the 87’s with the 5.7 and T’s back in the day. The only thing you couldn’t ever get was a 5sp with the 350. Then, in the later years…90/91-92 the factory stopped making them with t tops. But I’m a previous owner and they’re out there.
@thud97973 ай бұрын
I believe t-tops were available with the 350 throughout. I do remember though in the fall of 88 my brother and I sitting at the dealer while he ordered his new 89 IROC. The standard gear ratio was 2.77 and to get the same 3.27 that was previously standard for 87 you had to order the G92 Performance Axle Package and this option according to the dealer who was sitting there at the computer, could not be ordered with t-tops on the 350. Don't know if this was a temporary glitch or the way it was for that period of time. I do know if you ordered G92 without air conditioning then that triggered some extra equipment to be installed and you ended up with a 1LE car and don't believe t-tops were available on that car. Some have said they don't remember this restriction but that's just what I remember. He wanted the t-tops and wasn't much into speed so the 2.77 didn't bother him and the car was definitely built and delivered with the 2.77 and his beloved t-tops. 😀

Interesting car but you keep saying all original car and yet it has been repainted and the motor rebuilt, and the top possibly replaced, and the carpet and armrest replaced and not even dyed to the correct color. And the A/C no longer functions, so it is not an "all original " car it is mostly original in appearance but not a survivor.

If it had been a Western Mass. Sport Special it would just be a pile of rust by now. I had a '69 Swinger with 170 slant six and 3-on-the-tree in the late 70s that I bought for $495. Not exactly a chick magnet; I should've had a Celica or similar, but I loved it. Same seats - they were in bad shape when I got the car in '76. Steering wheel was already cracked then - had a wrapper similar to this specimen.

I could loose any cop car in this, on the Southern Oregon coast. Stock. I have, actually, no cop car could keep up through the streets of Port Orford, Sixes River Road, China Mountain, Humbug Mountain S turns. I had one, with Stahlflex P205 60s. This car corners way better than it looks like it should, with rear air shocks. The 2.8L V6 was robust. Definitely a sporty car, tons of fun. Merkur Capri, made in West Germany. Tight tolerances. Mine, in 1984, 10 years old, would pop your ears when closing the door. So I kept 1 rear pop open window slightly open to avoid ear pops. That is how tight the then West Germans did it. Gorgeous car. My favourite car ever.
