This is my list: 15. The Final Cut - not bad, but kind of boring. And boring sucks. 14. More - it kind of screams at me, but not in the right way. 13. Momentary Lapse of Reason - if it wasn't for that framing thing, I'd go fully along with it. 12. Saucerful of Secrets - reflects the two first parts of the title track. A bit messy. 11. Animals - yeah, I get it, but it doesn't rich my personal bullseye 10. Piper at the Gates of Dawn - it's 1967, young and fresh and the debut, so I'll love it just because of that 9. Obscured By Clouds - something about it speaks to me. It has this summery moody feel that I love about it 8. The Wall - simplicity and iconicness, and I like that. 7. The Endless River - I don't live, but like it, and that thing about who painted it pushed it up the list for me 6. Division Bell - good handcraft and it's better than the music IMHO 5. Wish You Were Here - Never really cared for that wide passepartuot, but that little burn mark saves it. 4. Meddle - always loved it, it's blue and mysterious and reflects the music (i.e. Echoes and One of these Days) 3. Ummagumma - always loved that one because it sets me in the mood and I actually love the album (I know I'm a weirdo) 2. Atom Heart Mother - That album cover as the one that called my attention and curiosity before I went into Floyd ages ago 1. Dark Side of the Moon - I think I have nothing to say that hasn't been said a billion times already Thank you for a very good 45 minutes, guys.

Great video, I loved hearing your thoughts on this incredible discography! I do want to speak up for one of my favorite songs, "Little Lamb Dragonfly," though lol. I hear a lot of people criticize it for the "Lalala" sections, but that's not actually very much of the song -- just the transition from the intro into the main body of the song, and then the outro. (I've seen people call it the chorus, but it's not, really -- the chorus is "Since you've gone I never know/I go on, but miss you so." It's a weird song structure lol) Anyway, I think the "Lalala" section actually calls back to the first line of the song, "I have no answer for you," as those transitions are meant to reflect a feeling of grief that can't be put into words. That's what I get out of it, anyway! I just think it's a beautiful song about incomprehensible loss, juxtaposing the death of a little lamb on his farm with the loss of a dear friendship, and not really being able to find sense in either.

We're all sweating it out. (R.I.P. Richard Simmons.) So, the Pink Floyd album covers. I wouldn't say any of these are terrible or bad. The ones at the bottom are just confusing to me if anything. Frustratingly so in a few cases. So, here goes: 14. Meddle (It's an ear? Really? I dunno. Looks like an elephant trunk or a penis to me. I'm into "weird" and avant-garde stuff, I envy and love Crystal for knowing so much about art herself, but this.... yeah, like I said above, frustratingly confusing to me.) 13. The Final Cut (Military ribbons? Okay, fine.) 12. Obscured By Clouds (I guess for what it is, it works.) 11. More (Same as 12.) 10. Endless River (Yeah, it does look like an illustration from a children's book. I was also thinking something from a Disney movie. Considering how cartoonish Floyd had become at this point, I guess it makes sense in that regard.) 9. Saucerful Of Secrets (Getting better.) 8. The Division Bell (I do remember hearing about that "pulse light" in the first pressing or so of the album.) 7. Ummagumma (If only Gilmour would wear shoes on this album cover...) 6. Piper At The Gates Of Dawn (It's simple. It's their first album. It works.) 5. Animals (Pig Floyd. :Butthead laugh: Nevermind. Shout-out to @abigaildevoe whose review of Animals was posted on her channel this week.) 4. Wish You Were Here 3. Momentary Lapse Of Reason 2. The Wall (Whether that scroll is on it or not, it works.) 1. The Dark Side Of The Moon (You're not the only basic bitch, Tommy. Ha! Simple, iconic. "Arty" without being too cerebral. Perfect, really. One reason why the album was so successful, I'm sure.) I can't be the only one who got a tad emotional when that dude in that MTV ad mentioned "14-cent stamp", am I? 2019 albums next week. Yeah, I'll get back to you on that. Ha! See y'all then. :)

The Final Cut 14. More 13. Boogie Oogie Oogie (I know it's Ummagumma but I just like to make a joke about it too) 12. The Endless River (meh!) 11. A Momentary Lapse Of Reason 10. Meddle (great album but the cover...eh!) 9. The Wall 8. Obscured By Clouds 7. The Division Bell 6. A Saucerful Of Secrets 5. The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn 4. Atom Heart Mother 3. Animals 2. Wish You Were Here 1. The Dark Side Of The Moon (no doubt that's one of the greatest album covers in music history)

@@djcrystalclear8169 I'm very musical and do photography as well, but when I see people that really understand what makes a nice portrait/image I am in awe. I really haven't taken the time to just look at most of the Prince covers, (I just went back to rewatch your take) I love Purple Rain and remember staring at that image for quite some time while relaxing on the floor 40 years ago. But so many of the others, I listen to your critique and then start to look for myself to see exactly what you're talking about and I really agree with most of it and upon reflection, I did notice those things but I just figure (this is exactly what they were going after. Like the ATWIAD album cover. It was that low detail kind of thing. I'm from a small town on Vancouver Island so when it comes to art I'm borderline fking 'R-word'. So I enjoy someone like yourself (or Tommy as he's in that industry as well) with experience and some technical expertise to walk through an image and explain what they are seeing and how they feel when they look at the image. "The lovely and talented Nassau Coliseum" Home of the Islanders Dynasty. Lol, this cracked me up. I love that you had 'Saucer Full of Secrets' at #14 but Tommy had it at #1. Art is so subjective (to a point haha) I can accept his reasoning and yours. Art is fun but I'm really very ignorant so I'm getting some real value from these vids. Id like to eventually have a deep understanding of art and also architecture. I love the angles and symmetry (Fib/Golden Ratio etc) but to understand the background and history I find (at this point in my life anyway) really interesting. So I hope this can be a reoccurring thing like once a month. Lots of other artists you guys all know and love with 10+ album libraries. That should be enough for 2 dozen episodes at least.

Good stuff, I'll record 1975 this week and ELO will be on there (Evil Woman this year) each year until Time if they released something. Jeff Lynne had the pop juice for sure. "Rocky rolly thing" heh. I call those his robobilly songs. I don't know for sure, but it seems they were an influence on 80s Dave Edmunds (duh, he did produce and wrote "Slipping Away") and even ZZ Top and indirectly, Queens of the Stone Age! And like you said, it informed Lynne's production work for other artists through the 80s. I've gotten more tolerant of that stuff over time, but not my faves. Are you planning to see Jeff Lynne's ELO's final tour? I saw it two years in a row in 2018-19, and the setlist was exactly the same, which was disappointing. I liked that it started with the deep cut "Standin' in the Rain," but don't love how the encore has always been "Roll Over Beethoven." Ugh. I get that it symbolizes his statement of purpose, carrying the torch from "Eleanor Rigby" and "I Am the Walrus," but it does suck. No songs from Time or Secret Messages either. The one track that was originally meant for the double album that didn't make the 2018 reissue was "Beatles Forever," which I have NEVER heard. Lynne must have been really embarrassed by it for it to be the one track left out, and impossible to find anywhere. Let us know if you find it! Curious what your favorite non-singles are. My fave is probably "So Fine" -- I often find it more uplifting than "Telephone Line" and "Livin' Thing." "Jungle" was a lot of fun when I was a kid -- had a dance for the part where the animals danced. 1. So Fine 2. Jungle 3. Sweet is the Night 4. Tightrope 5. Here is the News 6. Standin' in the Rain 7. Summer and Lightning 8. Hello, My Old Friend 9. Yours Truly, 2095 10. Need Her Love One song I never got was Can't Get It Out of My Head. I've heard it hundreds of times, but never really liked it. #8 was one of the tracks added to the double album reissue of Secret Messages. I wrote this about it a while back: When I first heard the dramatic intro of the vocodor robot voice on “Prologue,” leading into Bev Bevan’s blazing, phased drums on “Twilight,” I swore it was the greatest thing I’d ever heard, at the age of 11. ELO was by far my favorite band for over three years, but by 1983, U2 and Iron Maiden were duking it out with Rush for the top spot. Nevertheless, I anticipated the release of Secret Messages and enjoyed it, even if it was a step down from Time. Secret Messages was a sarcastic response to allegations from American Christian fundamentalists of hidden satanic messages going all the way back to Eldorado (1974). With the plan to include a live side to make it a double album to complete their contract with the record label, Lynne ended up writing 20 songs, resulting in an 18 track album, including the tribute “Beatles Forever.” While the trunceated album initially signaled ELO’s artistic decline, marred by the incredibly lame “Rock ‘n’ Roll Is King” single, a failed rehash of the robobilly “Hold On Tight,” it’s still impressive, with the Roy Orbison inspired “Endless Lies,” and especially the closing epic 8:31 long “Hello My Old Friend,” a kind of summary of ELO’s artistic lifespan. “High-rise tower blocks with panoramic views of trains and coal, Tiehead railway tracks tread faithfully, The gas works to behold.” The label forced Lynne to edit and remix it down to a single album, losing it’s best track. While most of the cut tracks were released as B-sides and compiled on Afterglow, “Beatles Forever” remains unreleased, even when the album was finally released in a 17 track vinyl double album on August 3, 2018. Lynne must have deemed the tribute to his now old pals not up to snuff. Finally in it’s originally intended tracklist, it nearly matches Time. In this context, songs like the title track, “Bluebird,” “Stranger,” and “Four Little Diamonds” sound even better.

Ahhhh, ELO! When I was a kid, ELO was the lingua franca of musical taste: my friends and I ALL loved ELO, so it was the conduit through which we were able to talk about music. My ranking would be different from yours (I’d put Ma-Ma-Ma Belle much higher, and I’d have to put Mr Blue Sky at number one, for examples), but I completely get your ranking. I agree with you that Balance of Power is a much better album than most fans give it credit for, and I’d say Face the Music is almost as under appreciated. I mean, come on! One album that has massive hits like Evil Woman and Strange Magic, and should’ve been hits like Nightrider and One Summer Dream, and one of the best pop-rock instrumentals of the decade in Fire on High…. Just a spectacular album. And even then, it has to compete with A New World Record and Out of the Blue… Woof. As for Xanadu, I really like the version Jeff Lynne released in the Flashback set. Lovely song.

Well, one is better than none. I spaced on the Manics, but I never really listen to that album. 90% on my Manics time is Gen Terrorists still…lol. The rest is Everything Must Go or B-Sides & Singles. BTW…heard the new Primals track? Love Insurrection. It’s a smooth Happy Mondays if they were sober, 90s banger!!!

@@christianewen3227 IDLES do not feck around! “Concrete to leather!” Christian, isn’t ’The Blue Hour’ gorgeous?! 😍 I’m torn this time between Lawrence and the Manics. I’d like you to choose for me, pretty please.

Hello Christian! No surprise that you, Michele, and i all have Suede on our lists. (Each of us have different fave songs . . . which is interesting.) As I recall Manic Street preachers have appeared with some regularity on past lists of yours. Idles is bubbling under (sorry!) for me and I wil certainly have to check into your top pick. Wishing you an excellent weekend, my friend. 😀
