Hi Graham! Absolutely, it's fragile for sure. I did tell Rex that it wouldn't survive another tour of duty in the hands of children, but I think it's living safe on his desk at work now. Thank you for the feedback!

You always do an amazing job... I would imagine the model with the plain wheels is very rare... nice to have. I always wondered why Corgi decided on the Oldsmobile 88 for the MFU. I don't think it was the car that featured in the series. I think this particular style dates from 1961... 🤔
@PBsRetroRestorations6 күн бұрын
Thank you Brian! I suspect the plain wheels version is from the first run of them, I have since acquired another one with the plain wheels so they're out there. Rare is can be an overused term in diecast, but it's definitely less common than the other wheel type. Perhaps as the Oldsmobile 88 was getting to the end of its run Corgi saw an opportunity to squeeze some more miles out of it in converting it to the U.N.C.L.E. car 🤔 Who knows with Corgi? 😆 Thank you for the feedback and for watching!

This is absolutely magnificent! I drooled after Dinky models as a kid, although I only collected 1/64 or ?Matchbox-scale" models, so I never had any except the Leyland Atlantean double decker bus. But in the 1970s, the local toy shop stocked gleaming glass display cases full of the Dinky and large-scale Corgi models that I admired There wasn't the constraint on size, so a big Pontiac ambulance like this remained the proper big scale. I remember the later '66 Cadillac ambulance in the shop which was mouth-wateringly impressive. The moving parts and novelty features of these larger vehicles also made me jealous. Fast forward forty plus years, and my preference would be to do a custom restoration due to the exciting challenge to my imagination and skills. So glad to see what in up until the last few years would have been considered junk is now worth saving for customs. Well done!!!!
@PBsRetroRestorations11 күн бұрын
Thank you very much! I think the 66 Ambulance is in an ever so slightly larger scale than this one is too, quite an impressively large model. It's the same with 1:1 muscle cars these days, cars that were deemed write offs in the 70s/80s are all getting saved now. I'm glad to have a stash of old die cast because beaters are getting tougher to find.

@PBsRetroRestorations11 күн бұрын
Yeah, once they're bent they're bent it seems. I can't say I've ever seen one of these on the road in general use down here, seen a few at museums and car shows, but never 'in the wild' Thanks for watching and commenting.

aw man, the little ones fight even harder... watching the drill snap kind of hurt. what you could do is to cut off a milimeter or so, off the post until you can grab the drillbit with a tool and re-turn it. just don't crush it... it will be impossible to drill out. aside that, great work! love the pink, though I am not sure it was among the original colour pallette at Heinkel's back when. XD they actually used plane canopy windows and framework for the thing. like Messerschmitt they weren't allowed to make flyign things anymore after the war and looked into the microcar business. so the result looked like a plane cabin on wheels... some say it feels like flying, too. :)
@PBsRetroRestorations11 күн бұрын
Thank you Lothar. I don't know why I convince myself the small ones will somehow be easier on account of their scale. They still have all the same parts generally. Agreed on the pink, I like it, but it's miles to bright for a 'factory' finish.

Hi Phil! I watch and edit them as I go along, I have just migrated to editing / voice overs on a MacBook with an alegedly 'good' microphone, after years of doing it all on my phone. Another viewer said the audio is too low and the ads are really loud. If you've got a minute could you elaborate on what way the sound quality isn't good? I value the feedback and want to act on it to make it better. Thank you for telling me.
