The issue of job displacement and possible creation meets the search to cut jobs in privatized water and companies. However, I worry about the capacity of ADs (Artificial decision systems) to address the pressing issues of even more complex water systems when ADs work to find manly patterns but not discontinuities.

Cela dépend de la période de l'année à laquelle vous effectuez le forage. À la fin de la saison des pluies, le niveau de la nappe phréatique est probablement élevé. Si vous arrêtez de forer lorsque vous atteignez le niveau de la nappe phréatique, vous risquez d'assécher le trou de forage plus tard dans l'année. Great information, many thanks. I just started a first borehole in Uganda with a borehole machine. How do I stop borehole cave in? After drilling the length of the extension drill pipe, the next pipe only goes in about half way thru. We then have to screw it in manually before starting the machine again. We are using Polymer when drilling but it does not have much effect on keeping the borehole walls from caving in. Thanks a bunch, your advise is well appreciated

I suggest that RWSN construct wells in accordance with the standards used in the U.S. Many of your problems would resolve themselves if you do so.

Préconisations : 1-ni trop profond, ne peu profond; 2-utiliser un bon superviseur, hydraulicien pendant tout le processus; 3-choisir un bon site loin des points de contamination ; 4-reussir la finition du forage ; 5-bien placer le filtre pour avoir une eau non contaminée ; 6-bien tester la qualité de l'eau; 7-veiller à avoir une bonne qualité des travaux du puit

It was a good initiative.. But there is need to dicentralize borehole supervision and monitoring, under the ministry of health we the Environmental Health practitioners conduct routine sanitation survey of water point in the rural part of Zambia, local authorities can not be everywhere, hence we need this skill also.. In my catchment area we have a lot of boreholes which have become dry, and are now white elephants, for the country to reduce wasting resources critical supervision is essential..

La solution serait peut être la soutretance de contrat à longues garanties avec forte possibilité d indemnisation en cas d échec de forage. A noter que la réalisation d un forage produisant une eau contaminée est une sorte d échec notamment lorsque le traitement de ladite eau coûterait cher (filtration, adoucissement, desinfection, stérilisation, suivi d analyses avec prestation)

So what you are saying is that i can drill where i want...there is no telling where water can be a 100m below the ground, on a flat surface of 1 HA........

There are ways of finding out - through groundwater maps, where they exist and using geophysical surveying techniques, but none of them guarantee that you will be able to drill a productive borehole (although if you are drilling into sedimentary deposits near a river or lake your chances are very high, but you might have quality problems instead)
