You can use any spray lube to get you by, but it won't last long, especially if you run through rain...it will wash off. I use gear oil/motor oil in a small squeeze bottle from the dollar store, only need a few drops on the gear for it to work well again, but with the salt on the roads, you'll need to do it again every so often.

@@trucker4life70 cool. Sounds good to me but is it consistent getting paid that weekly? Also, talking with your dispatcher may help by letting them know how you want to run. Part of the problem you have is you are pulling a flat bed while places that operate 7 days a week for flatbed freight do exist its a small small fraction as compared to reefer or van freight most places that flatbed freight comes from are monday through friday operations.

Thoughts from an old man. 1. If you get up every morning and go to work to provide for your self and family your not a loser. 2. If you're struggling to make basic existent wages, nothing over the top, walk away but don't forget to tell at least three people in the company why, from different departments, so the truth is known and not twisted. 3.Realize that you are an asset, to yourself first, family second, and that young children must be taught that if Grandpa is home, then that is more important then any material item that can be given. 4. Reason with yourself that this career that we do, is ours, many of us out here cannot be in a modern day work environment, it's way to easy for us to see through the BS, and we are not afraid to call it. 5. From personal experience once you've been an owner operator, it's nearly impossible to let someone have all the control, over your time and money. I personally have given up some independence recently so that I could have a better freight selection as well as a efficient truck, but what have I really gained...some peace of mind, which is worth a lot. 5.

Listen brother, you're not a loser. We have all been there and some of us still are. Remember one thing, when you're at the bottom, you can only go up. I hate to say it, but maybe driving OTR isn't going to work for you. I drove heavy haul for a very good local company in PA/DE/MD/NJ, and occasionally dump truck and concrete mixer for 23 years and made real good money and had great benefits. Maybe that's something to consider. I just couldn't handle driving anymore and finally went full time in my own business doing remodeling and home improvements, and I couldn't be happier. You can't put a price tag on your happiness man, and if you're not happy, maybe consider giving up OTR and do local dump truck work and open yourself up to possibly getting prevailing wage work, or work for a township road crew. you could easily make very good money and great Bennys, and be home every night. I have, and some of my close friends who still work there (near Philly) are making near 100K and get a pension/401k doing prevailing wage work, in a dump truck, 11-12 hrs a day, and home every single night, running trucks that are less than 5 yrs old. I know my former employer would take you in a second, if you live in PA/MD/DE. You would be hired by a better opportunity in a heartbeat brother. Just my .02
