I have to imagine that everyone that buys these Insinkerator hot water spigots encounters this same issue. What a pain! (if you don't know this tip!) Bummer that the company hasn't taken more pride in updating their products to address issues like this.

Likely the drain line at the bottom rear of fridge is clogged. There is no place for the defrosted ice to go.

Attention Samsung junk owners, There was a class-action suit that was brought against Samsung refrigerator ice maker problems. Samsung denied any malfeasance on their part but, after waiting several years, they repaired my ice maker issues. They replaced the main circuit board plus all the interior freezer parts. My Samsung ice maker problem has been rectified at their expense and since the repair, My ice maker has been trouble-free. The rest of the refrigerator worked just fine except I couldn't use the ice dispenser for years. You know Samsung could have just fixed the problem quietly but chose to have themselves publicly criticized and forced to atone for a problem that plagued the French door/freezer bottom refrigerators. The defrost method while functional, did not remedy the icemaker issues because the build-up was severe enough to negate using the defroster which is kept a secret from customers.

Thanks so much! I called Insinkerator about this and their fix was to buy a new faucet....wish I had know earlier about this fix, as it has gotten stuck a few times and as a result, I have scratched my button a little. Oh well, better than spending $$ to replace.

Solved my problem as well! Used lubricant instead of removing the o ring, so we will see if that is a lasting solution

I've seen another video were after they defrosted the ice make they used insulation tape to seal the edges of the unit. This should stop the warm air from entering the unit. Its simply a design flaw.

I can't even get the drawer to come out. I ran 4 consecutive defrost cycles & it's still locked up. Any thoughts...?

I can only think that maybe you have not made sure the ice maker is turned "off"? If it is not it will keep the ice maker cold as you are trying to warm it up. I need to update this vide though. Samsung is now replacing all of these ice makers. A class action lawsuit was recently settled and they are replacing them under warranty. Call Samsung at 800-726-7864. They will send a local tech for the replacement. It was a pretty quick response and my ice maker is now frost free!

Do u know why water got up there in the first place? After we get all the ice melted it just freezes up again.

The frost is a result of warm air entering the ice maker because of a terrible design flaw. You can melt the frost but the frost comes back. The real fix is callinging Samsung at 800-726-7864. A class action lawsuit was recently settled and they are now replacing ice makers under warranty in most cases. Call them, the fix by the tech took 45 minutes and no frost in two months!

My ice maker has been replaced twice and it still happens. They should be fixing all of the refrigerators regardless if it’s under warranty or not. Unfortunately mine is no longer under warranty.

I use a steam machine from harbor freight and I can defrost mine in about 10 minutes without any beeping.

The very first sign of this in our Samsung was the ice chute freezing up, no ice would come out. The repaiman told us to pour really hot water through the chute and it clears it up. We did. It did. In our fridge, anyway, once we stop it at this level it gets no further. It first happened 4 months affer we bought the fridge, which was two yeafs ago now. No recurrence yet

There is a flaw design with these. There are some gaps inside the Ice Maker that allow air in which forms condensation which freezes up the whole Ice Maker.

I am posting this to help you all who continue to have this issue with your icebox freezing up. I believe this is a simple permanent fix. I ask in return if you can answer me a question. Can you please tell me if the ice maker in the bottom can be disabled. I want to remove the ice tray in the freeze and use that for our regular frozen foods? Here is the repair fix I found for the freeze box. This repair man appears to have found a simple fix for the issue. I would also recommend putting a piece of aluminum insulation on the outside of the ice box that sits inside the refrigerator. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hHWQY4GhpZZ8qq8 Let me know if it works?

You may need to go through two or three cycles of the process but the ice jam inside will eventually melt enough to pull the bucket out. Just be patient and allow some time. And make sure to turn the ice maker "off" before you start. Good luck!

Thanks. I simplify it by removing the ice bucket, place a dish towel to catch the thawing ice and water, then I use my wife's hair dryer, at max heat. About 10 minutes later it's all thawed out, including the stuborn ice in the back, top-right. I then turn off the heat function of the hair dryer to cool things down to near room temperature. Then I remove the dish towel, use a paper towel to wipe up any moisture, reinstall the ice tray and 4 hours later ice starts dropping. Please DO NOT use a heat gun. They get way too hot. Cheers

Fd mean full defrost for freezer and freshfood evaporater, not for ice maker. On 5:18 you can see still frozen coil and heater. Never use hair dryer - you will destroy the plastic. Just steam maker. To fix this issue need replace ice maker or use service kit if available, ice room fan if needed and fill all gaps around ice room with selicon . Check ice box gasket.

Thanks for the tech notes. I have a Samsung tech sheet that lists FD as "Force Defrost". It does also say that it is for both fridge and freezer with no mention of the ice maker. This does melt the ice in the ice maker though in my experience. In my video I mistakenly did not have the ice maker turned "off" so it was still trying to cool down. Maybe that is why you see ice on the coil?

I've never had a flood problem. After a cycle or two the ice should warm up enough for you to start breaking off big pieces by hand to speed things up.

You are correct, i should have made that clear in the video. This is just a tempoary fix that needs to be repeated quite often. There are indeed a number of "fixes" on KZbin. I did replace the gizmo in the back that was supposed to fix this but to no success.

Here is info on other models. It was posted as a pinned post on the "C.L.S. All-In-One" channel There are a couple different models of Samsung Refrigerators that may have slightly different Forced Defrost activation settings so here is some other instructions if needed: Samsung RF28 Defrost To start a “force defrost” on a Samsung RF28 refrigerator, press and hold at the same time “energy saver” and “power freeze/freezer” for about 4 seconds. Then you should hear a “beep”, and the display would show “OFF”. For manual defrost press and hold “energy saver” and “fridge/power cool” for 12 seconds. That would power the fridge off. If you press the “fridge/power cool” button, then it will switch to forced freeze mode. If you press the same button again for 3 times, then it would switch to forced defrost mode. Samsung RF263 Defrost Press and hold “energy saver” and “fridge” buttons for 8 seconds. The display would power off. After that, press the “fridge” button four times, the refrigerator would switch to “Fd” mode (forced defrost). Samsung RF263BEAESR Ice Maker Defrost Press and hold “energy saver” and “fridge” buttons for 8 to 10 seconds. The display wold go bland and the fridge would beep. Press the “fridge” button four times, both the refrigerator and ice maker would switch to forced defrost mode (“Fd” on display ). You cannot defrost the ice maker separately. Samsung RF263BEAESR Defrost There is an “energy saver” button on the left from the front side of the fridge. And there is “fridge button” on the right side. Press and hold both buttons for about 8 seconds, the display would go blank. Press 4 times the fridge button until there is “Fd” on the display. Samsung RF24FSEDBSR Defrost Press and hold the “fridge” and “power save” buttons for about 8 seconds, then press the “fridge” button until there is a “Fd” on display. The fridge would beep until the defrosting process is completed. Samsung RF23J9011SR Defrost Press and hold the “cool select” and “freezer” buttons for about 8 seconds, then press any other button for 4 times to switch it to forced defrost mode. There should be “Fd” on display. The fridge would beep for 25 minutes after that, which is normal. Samsung SRF680CDLS Defrost Press and hold the “fridge” and “energy saver” buttons for about 8 seconds, then press the fridge button, until there is a “Fd” on the display. The forced defrost mode is on.

@@soyelmismo17 I am just a homeowner and not an expert on this. But I did some searching for your model number. It appears that you do not have a user interface panel like mine. It looks like you need to use the "SmartThings" app to connect to your refrigerator to run these diagnostic modes.
