Chubberson LeVar "Chubby" Tavares (April 1, 1948 - July 4, 1989) founded the band Tavares while still attending New Bedford High in 1965. Constant fighting in the group lead to Chubby replacing the original members one by one with his brothers, and fame soon came knocking.

When i first saw Chubby in the video clip, Heaven back in the 70's, my heart skipped a beat..He had that sex appeal about him and he still has it today..Beautiful rich voice.

All the blessing to the Tavares Brothers for so many songs that they have given us since the 70s and even in the middle of the 21st century (2022) are heard that adults and children especially like the theme "Heaven Must Be Missing An Angel" and the song "More That A Woman". Greetings from Peru.

At 6:50 when I was little, I played that song so much that my brother took the record it was on and hid it behind the couch. To this day it is still one of my all time favorites

Chubby Tevares....fantastic singer, dancer. Humanitarian. Love in his family is strong. Few know Chubby took several gunshots trying to shield and save his beloved sister in the UK years ago. He nearly gave his life to protect her....but failed. She was lost to the family and Chubby badly wounded. Such love in that family of 10 kids. Mom and dad did fine job with them. Chubby also lost a son to violence...senseless. Much love and respect for Chubby. 🎶💕🎶
