4 Months ago I saw this video, 3 Months ago I was tumbling with Jared at 5000 feet, and 2 months later I'm still looking for good deals on an Extra 330 online, haha! This video is legendary (no wonder youtube keeps feeding it back to me). Looking forward to my annual dose of Aerobatics training with Jared, it was a blast and an excellent learning experience. Keep up the good work !!

The view from 4:56 would have been the most useful to see during the manoeuvres - what the pilot sees, with the control stick in frame to see the aileron/elevator inputs. Same with the wing view - looking out at the tip rather than in at the aircraft would make this video more useful for chair-flying than as the spectator views often used here. Thanks though, looking forward to more.

Oh, I knew those fields and landmarks looked familiar! I come up to Rochelle and Morris every year to fly the corn and I occasionally see some guys doing aerobatics in that area while I'm working. Always thought it was just Oshkosh traffic because it gets pretty crazy out there with the transients. I'll keep my eyes out for your guys!

As a kid flying RC planes, I had 2 favorite planes, the Extra 330 and the Russian Sukhoi and the real thing is so much cooler than I ever imagined. I love how calmly you perform these maneuvers, and I would LOVE TO TRY IT myself, but I was about motion sick watching you do it, lol. Way too freaking cool, thanks!!!

hi, I play aerobat in ms flight sim. Thank you for showing the different lomcovaks, I have been wondering which version is the proper one. I have a couple questions: Is an over-aileron [overspin] lomcovak still called a lomcovak, or is it a different name? One of my favorite... [edit got the trick completely wrong ... ignore]? Finally: Is there a complete list of tumbles somewhere on the internet? There is so much more to tumbles than a standard lomcovak, and it's slow figuring it all out on my own. Thanks for your time and videos

Absolutely! Gyroscopic precession enables an “inside tumble/lomcovak” done with aft stick and right rudder.

Awesome video Jared! Interestingly enough I was taught lomcevaks using right rudder and left aileron fwd stick. Not sure why everyone teaches differently. Would be awesome to see a video on different tumbles, maybe some with different combinations of control inputs and an explanation on how it changes the dynamics. I have a midwing E300 and at some point want to learn how to do it in my plane.
@gambitaviation

Tumbles and lomcevaks in airplanes that don’t have a backwards-turning engine (M14P’s) require left roll, left rudder, and forward stick to create as much gyroscopic precession as possible that creates a force that that tucks the nose down and to the left. Right rudder and pushing is negating gyroscopic precession and it would commonly be referred to as a “shoulder roll” and not a true tumble/lomcevak. We cover all of this in person - and there’s a lot of detail left out of this video. 🙃 We’re happy to come to you and fly with you in your airplane, too!

Aileron, rudder and elevator have larger surface areas which react at a faster rate plus the angles of all 3 are also increased in aerobatic aircraft. I started out with decathlon and to a pitts special then extra and it was like power steering in the latter. Real aircraft 👍
