Is hookless the same as the glue on tires of the 70s? I'm not familiar with the term.
@durianriders2 сағат бұрын
Not similar. One is glued/taped in place. Hookless you just pray to god you don’t lose air rapidly lol.

I think Katie Kookaburra has it on one of her vlogs in jan 19/20. You really think I can’t change out the cups of a 2015 Defy in under 10 mins? You really that inexperienced?? 😂😂 You really think it takes more than a rag, small bit of grade and a multi tool? No wonder you still pay bike shops $20 to fix a flat💯❤️😂

I have hookless on my gravel usually 35 psi. With road pressures, i wouldn't run them. Surgery is much morexexpensive than buying a new wheelset

I have hookless on my tcr, only issue is tyres are super hard to fit onto the rim.

Swap out the wheels. Safety first. They are hard to install yet they blow off the rim WAY too easy if you hit a bump.

I am 74 and have been riding hookless for last 2 years on both my TCR and Propel I had more punctures running clinchers No issues with hookless Riding lighter without having to carry tubes pumps etc I do 300 km/week alternating between bikes Bike maintenance is a solid priority for me before after every ride Enjoy your stories

You don’t carry spares because you think sealant prevents flats?? 😂😂😂❤️ Run Specialized Armadilio Elite if you want the strongest and still reasonably fast tire.
@peterboswell45844 сағат бұрын
If I have a flat means insufficient sealant I check and renew every six months Sealant has never needed top up in between I look out for debris on roads Our roads and PSPs in Perth are excellent for riding I have been using conti gp 5000s last set got 9000 km An old saying “It’s not how fast you go,but how you go fast” Mucho ❤

@@durianridersagreed, 98 to 2006 used to run armadillos clinchers for fall, winter, spring training tires. Shity rain washed roads. Heavy strong tires, run them till they are basicly sqaure.. I was putting in 500 mile weeks. When racing or fast group training. Switch over to lighter race tires, for more zipp. Good call.

I agree. I have experienced two episodes of complete depressurization with a hookless carbon rim. The tire basically came off. And, yes, I was withing the recommended pressure. I broke my left femur into three seperate pieces and had to have emergency surgery. I now run that rim with a tube.

I got a blow out on my ebike a few weeks ago at 40kph and it it was hookless I would have CRASHED HARD. But because I use HOOKED rims my tire didnt blow off and I could come to a stop in time. Good thing I was wearing black shorts lol. I hit a rock on a path that was covered in leaves. I get offered free hookless carbon rims every month by certain brands and politely decline.

I rode 120km on Thursday and the loop went down some back roads. To my surprise a lot of tarmac was missing. I started at 80psi ended at 50psi (35km of the ride was endless potholes). If I was hookless I'd probably be dead.
