When you start your flare, keep the stick coming back until it’s in your crotch. That will help prevent the bounce and the float. Try it and let me know how it goes.

you're fine. didn't damage airplane. after about 30 hours in 3 different TW, instructor shocked me and signed me off. I think he was more concerned with recognition of when a landing was going wrong and that the corrections I was making were in right directions. being comfortable enough to grease them on took a lot longer. watch your airspeed. carrying extra energy going into the flare makes everything harder. they go a lot easier if you can bleed your speed with all 3 wheels 1ft off until you drop. those are always the greasers. this is the case with every TW i've flown. you get away with a lot of bad stuff in a tricycle. the other thing an aerobatic/pitts instructor taught me in a citabria.... his main landing exercise was to taxi down a long runway with tail up, and zigzag the whole way. then after you've mastered that, do it on one wheel, then do it with zigzags on one wheel (wind permitting). practice with tail low and tail high. really teaches you how to fly it during that last bit. he said normally you only got a few seconds worth of practice in landing mode, and this gives you a minute each time. you also get very sensitive to feeling how much speed you have above stall. (he was hands down the best stick&rudder instructor I ever had; never took the controls away, would just tap a bit on the rudder to keep us out of the weeds. I think he said that if he corrected too much, I'd never learn to correct things myself.)

I owned an S2A some years back. Got about 400 hrs in the seat. Learning to land ... so many bounces with 3 point. The best way I found was wheel landing. From base to final, altitude 700 to 800 ft. Slip it down at about a 75 degree angle at 1200 RPM. It just drops out of the sky. About 10 ft above runway, bring the wings level., nose / tail. on a flat plain. Gives full view forward. Let mains touch, tail still in the air. With mains solid on the ground, pull power back to idle, The tail automatically touches the ground. Wheel landings with a tail wheel, easy. Additional ... fly more!

Watching this actually makes my heart hurt, I miss flying so much! I soloed in a Piper Cub with 4 hours of duel in 1963. Hartlee Field in Denton Texas. Turf runway. I was 18. Practicing T&L's was my favorite thing to do. Slips and crabbing... loved it. I flew all the Cessna single engine planes and the Piper Cherokee. I now fly RC planes...Pitts Specials of which I have five different sizes. I fly aerobatics, including the occasional Lommy, if I get lucky! Absolutely loved this video. Pardon me... I'm getting verklimpt. Michael
