Your story of normal family life, practical work, and sacrificing to go flying is familiar to many of us. I was making cardboard boxes at a box factory when I was 18 so I could afford flying lessons. I also finished my private pilot license in something like 42 hours. After 4 more years of making boxes, I went and got my A&P and worked with that for about 10 years. In that same time, I got my Instrument and Commercial and owned and flew several planes.Then I decided it was time to upgrade the career and spent 3 years to get mechanical engineering. I did engineering for about 5 years on Air Force One and realized better careers for engineers are definitely outside aviation. Now I work to make real money and flying is my hobby where it rightly belonged the whole time. If you can pull off making the pilot thing work for a career, more power to you. I rather enjoy having the money so I can easily afford flying instead of trying to make it a job. Love your videos! You remind me a lot of myself, only that was 20 years ago.

But I'd rather be flying full time, at least that's my opinion for now haha. It's going to be really tough but that's the dream 😅 who knows what happens in the future

I have to admit, I was one of the people that assumed you were a kid from some rich family. This video is very insightful and pretty inspirational. I have also always been amazed by anything that flies, i went the rc route though 😁. Im currently a very unmotivated 20 year old dude and this video helped a bit.

Ben you're an inspiration. I'm at the point of waiting for my PPL checkride after weather delayed it twice so far. There's one pilot in my family who passed away long before I was born so my family isn't an aviation family nor are we rich, so it's really inspiring to see someone build up their aviation career from the ground up. I don't have aerobatic plans but maybe I'll see you in the skies one day!

Good luck with your dreams Ben. I had dreams when I was about your age of flying first for the Air Force and then perhaps the airlines. It all worked as planned. Once flew an F-4 to Mather AFB for their open house. Retired Airbus captain. Dreams do come true.

I am inspired. After suffering a nervous breakdown and ptsd due to my job, I realized I need an outlet outside of work. When I was a little kid I dreamed of being a pilot and owning a Pitts Special, but adulthood convinced me those were pipe dreams. Now I’m seriously looking at going for my ppl and pursuing aerobatics as a hobby to help alleviate the extreme stress of my job and what will probably be a lifelong battle with ptsd. If you can do it with a regular full time job and a bit of determination, maybe I can too.

You definitely can and should!!! It’s a lot of work and money, but it’s something that’ll keep you busy and challenged for a long time, definitely recommend it. You won’t regret it!

Earning what you want, through hard work and determination, is so much more rewarding than having it handed to you. Glad to see you are doing just that! I grew up around aviation, soloed on my 16th birthday, and didn't go much further. After school I chose aviation maintenance as a career path, I completed A&P school, and earned my Powerplant rating before once again falling short of completion. One day I will actually finish one or both Ppl/A&P, but for now I will continue grinding away to gain financial comfort. You should consider yourself an inspiration to others. Great job, and keep up the good work. Don't mind the jealous haters, they are everywhere. I'm glad that youtube suggested your videos, I will continue watching and liking.

My dream is exactly like yours actually. I wante to fly... to just fly to be honest. I love not only being up so High but I just love the thought of being able to be in the air. With science that is still changing everyday. If anything I knew I’d chase my dream so the closes thing to that because I was not born into a rich family is the military. I am currently serving in the us Air Force and i’m pursuing my dream as closely as possible. I hope to one day be able to afford not only a plane but a rentable hangar and just be able to go flying when I want to. (Btw my first time ever flying was on my way to basic training and I loved every minute of it!!) thank you sir for sharing your wisdom of aviation and what you’ve done to get to where you are today. Aim High!!

You need to visit Pensacola fl if you love to watch the blue angels, where I work is lined up to the run way. They practice Wednesday, Thursday & Friday. They also train new pilots here. Come visit brothers bbq & we can watch them line up to land.

Man you are living out my dream 😂 I'm glad I got that cross country video in my recommended cause I instantly watched all the videos after that and was not disappointed!!! (You do talk a tad quick though but I don't mind! Just an observation) I wanted to be a pilot for so long but my uncle (who is an American Airlines mechanic) and mom talked me out of it (they said there wasn't a lot of demand for pilots back then and even more so now cause of covid). So here I am struggling for a computer science (which I also enjoy it's just so hard) degree so I can go into IT and make a load of money so I can start my flying lessons. My end goal is to own and fly some of my favorite aircraft, a lot from WW2, but also some non warbirds. But first I gotta graduate lmao 😅 Can't wait for your next upload man! I got a feeling you're going to make it big on KZbin! You have that energy about you, I just can't explain it! Good luck! -Joe

Hi Ben, I took flying lessons back in the early 80's and I believe the cost was $40 bucks an hour total! I soloed and got my student pilot license and then due to a job change I quit. It is one of those choices I have regretted many times.

This kid is the American dream all rolled into one. An absolute role model. No SJW cra@p. No air head entitlement. No blaming anyone else for any issues that inevitably crop up in the real world. A bit like me when I was 21! I had passion and drive. I wish I was as clued up as him as I took the easy route career wise and didn't follow my passion. But.. It sort of worked out OK in the end. But beware. Ben's family left the Eastern Block to escape tyranny of the worst kind. Unfortunately it's now back on their door step.....

Great video I just subscribed, I also love aerobatics and actually got to do some training with the great Wayne Handley who actually is in your neck of the woods. I highly recommend if you get a chance to fly with him not only a great pilot but wonderful person as well. He is located at Pine Mountain Lake airport up by Sonora CA. I just came accross your videos. Years ago I had Russian speaking neighbors who had a dog that only spoke and understood Russian. Anyway something happened to them where they got deported and I took the dog. We struggled for a while till he could understand me. 😁Thankfully your family taught you your native language. My family came to the US and never bothered to teach us there native language. Father is Hungarian and Mom is from France.

SCC wasn’t like that when I went there to get my A&P. I do near that since they move from SCC campus and Executive airport that it is very hard to get into. Nice to see that you’re doing what you want to do. I work with a guy who (now works for the state) use to do the same thing that you are try to achieve and this is an air show pilot. Can’t wait to see your next adventure..
